Recent Advances in the Treatment of Cervical Cancer

Over the past decade, cervical cancer treatment has evolved significantly due to advancements in medical research and technology. These developments have enhanced survival rates and improved the quality of life for patients. Here are some of the latest breakthroughs:

1. Immunotherapy Immunotherapy has emerged as a promising treatment option for cervical cancer, particularly in advanced or recurrent cases. Drugs such as checkpoint inhibitors target the immune system to help it recognize and attack cancer cells more effectively. For instance, Pembrolizumab, an FDA-approved immunotherapy drug, has shown positive results in treating advanced cervical cancer.

2. Targeted Therapy Targeted therapies focus on specific molecules involved in cancer growth and progression. Bevacizumab, a monoclonal antibody that inhibits the growth of blood vessels feeding the tumor, has been integrated into treatment protocols for advanced cervical cancer.
