The Recruiter's Outlook (April 2024)

Earth Day 2024

Earth Day, for me, is a reminder to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. Timed perfectly for spring in the northeast, I’m writing the Recruiter’s Outlook in my backyard garden as the winter vegetation comes back to life. Earth Day is a reminder to be mindful of the purchases we make, the vehicles we drive, the trash we put in the landfill, and the food we put in our body.

Personally, I also take advantage of this day to teach my kids something about sustainability or remind them that dad’s job is about supporting the renewable energy field. After all, my main initiative when starting EnergeiaWorks in 2010 was to contribute to the development of an industry focused on carbon reduction. I’d like to share a video that we shot a few years ago where I talk about the reasons for starting EnergeiaWorks and Renewables UnWind.

Surprisingly, Earth Day is older than me!  Take a few minutes to watch this prime time reel from 1970 of Walter Cronkite explaining Earth Day for the CBS News audience.  If you haven’t seen President Biden’s $7B solar funding announcement in honor of Earth Day, check it out here.

Now, get off that screen and go for a walk to enjoy the beauty that we inherited and are committing to protect!

Solar Workforce Mastery

After 25 years in talent acquisition, I’ve perfected the art of recruiting. My career began many years ago in the US Marine Corps enlisting New Jersey high school students into the military.  Since then, I’ve supported information technology, cyber security, telecom, and, for the last 14 years, renewable energy.

Join me on May 14th for a live version of the Clean Power Hour podcast with Tim Montague! If your team is focused on recruiting and retention, join me to learn some tips that can help your organization flourish when the demand for talent is at its peak. Since 2010, I’ve helped over 350 renewable energy companies find top talent around the world. I’ll be sharing the stage with CPS America — one of my long-standing customers.

I’ve been working with CPS since they were an unknown start-up in the US market and now they are the #1 selling string inverter manufacturer in North America. I like to think that I had a little something to do with their success by finding them top talent, including John Drummond. John has been with CPS since EnergeiaWorks placed him in 2015. John will be talking about what attracted him to CPS and what keeps him there after nine years. Joining us will be Ryan Pasquali, Recruiting Specialist, for CPS.

If you’re interested in being hired at CPS, you’ll need to convince Ryan that you want to be part of the winning team. Ryan has been instrumental in helping CPS scale over the past year, so he will explain some of the key attributes he seeks in candidates for his hiring managers. If you can’t make the webinar, there are plenty of opportunities to meet with EnergeiaWorks in May.

If you're looking to hire top talent in R&D, manufacturing, project development, engineering, asset management, construction, or O&M, reach out to us today. You can find me at CLEANPOWER in May or you can meet our Customer Success Directors Victoria and Matt at Midwest Solar Expo and RE+ Texas.  We're happy to help with your 2024 hiring plan and talent acquisition.
