Reflections on 2024: Building Strength Beyond the Stage
As this year comes to a close, I’m reflecting on what I’m most proud of in 2024. While I didn’t step on stage for a competition this year—a deliberate choice—it doesn’t mean the year was without challenges. In fact, I set my sights on something even more demanding:
✔️ Building mature muscle mass.
Let me tell you, it’s been one of the hardest yet most rewarding journeys I’ve ever pursued.
The Commitment
Building muscle at this level takes more than just showing up at the gym. It requires:
✔️ Commitment to a structured plan.
✔️ Discipline to stick to nutrition and recovery protocols.
✔️ Resilience to push through setbacks and fatigue.
Every single day demanded intentionality, and now, as I look back, I’m amazed by the transformation that happens when you stay consistent and trust the process.
The Results
💪 This year, I completely redefined my physique and strength:
✔️ Same Weight, Different Body: I’m still 132 lbs, but my body composition tells a different story. I’ve built 113.3 lbs of lean muscle mass, reduced my body fat to 14.19%, and eliminated every ounce of excess fat. The result? A body that’s toned, firm, and shredded.
✔️ Strength Gains: My strength is at an all-time high. I’m lifting heavier than ever, moving better, and feeling unstoppable every time I step under the barbell.
✔️ Clothes That Fit Differently: My clothes now hug my body in ways that reflect the work I’ve put in. The awkward fit of the past is gone, replaced by a confidence-boosting fit that feels amazing.
✔️ Confidence: Walking into 2025, I feel stronger, more confident, and more capable than ever before—both inside and outside the gym.
Lessons from 2024
This year was a reminder that progress isn’t linear, but it’s always happening if you stay intentional.
It’s not about perfection—it’s about:
Choosing to skip a competition this year allowed me to shift my focus fully to building the muscle mass and strength I’ll need for the next phase of my journey. That decision gave me the time and space to grow—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally, too.
Looking Ahead to 2025
The New Year offers a blank slate, but I’m stepping into it with:
If there’s one takeaway from 2024, it’s this:
🎉 You don’t need a competition or event to validate your hard work. Your growth is enough.
Here’s to another year of staying disciplined, pushing limits, and becoming the best version of ourselves.
💪 Let’s make 2025 the year we all get #fit4events!
PS: Let’s be real: surviving in events isn’t enough. The events industry is challenging as it is, but your health shouldn’t be the sacrifice. Building strength, improving endurance, and taking steps toward better metabolic health can mean the difference between just getting through the day and showing up as your best self.
The good news? You don’t have to overhaul your life overnight like I did.
My best pro tip is to start small. Commit to one change a month —standing or walking during calls, or a 15-minute walk in between all those sit-down Zoom or Teams meetings, swapping sugary drinks for water, incorporating 40-50 grams of protein in at least two of your daily meals, or limiting alcohol to once a week.
These small, consistent steps add up and lead to lasting improvements.
