Relax, Relate, Release, & Enjoy Your Engagement

Relax, Relate, Release, & Enjoy Your Engagement

You're engaged!!!! I know you’re excited and ready to start planning all the fun, romantic, and ceremonial aspects of your wedding ceremony. But, let's slow down a bit. Just because you’re engaged doesn’t mean you have to immediately get married. Now’s the time to relax, relate, release, and enjoy your engagement.

Give yourself time to breathe

I know you’re excited! You had an amazing proposal, and of course, you LOVE that RING! But give yourself time to breathe before you start planning. Your decisions from this moment on are no longer just about your needs and wants, but you and your future spouse’s collective needs and wants.  Take this time to savor the moment and reflect on how your life will look after you're married.

Embrace the moment

You're ecstatic about being engaged and want to tell the world, but embrace the moment. Take time to go on a mini proposal vacation, continue going on dates, exercise, or go for long walks with each other. Most importantly, spend this time ensuring marriage is the right next step for your relationship.

Remember the why, not just the day

Remember the why, which is your marriage, not just the ceremony. Ceremonies are a magical, joyful, and wonderful celebration of your love. But the day after the wedding is when the real work starts. As you begin planning your wedding, remember to make your relationship a priority. Marriage requires a solid foundation and regular maintenance.

A long engagement can lead to a deeper emotional bond with your fiance and perhaps an awakening of a new you in the process. I know it's easy to dive right into wedding planning but ensure your future marriage remains the focal point of your wedding.

As your ordained officiant, I’m here if you’re unsure about having a long engagement, want to discuss life as a newly engaged couple, or need help realigning your wedding or marriage priorities. At Serenity Ceremonies, my goal is to help you create a loving, memorable, romantic, and unique wedding ceremony that will enter you into a marriage built on a strong foundation.
