With these 5 facts about Linkedin now known how do we boost your presence to potential clients and connections in the renewables sector.
Lets use a hypothetical person with a job title of business development manager in renewables.
They are an average Linkedin profile with 600 connections and 500 followers. how do we boost their presence and profile for them and their company.
- Make sure their profile page is good. Choose the right photo and background picture. Don't just have a job title use a headline also. Linkedin will tell you when you look at your page what to edit and where. People are curious by nature and will want to know about you.
- Start making good connections. Linkedin allows you 250 a week if you dont have premium so use them. Make sure you're connecting to potential customers and people with a common interest within renewable energy. As a BDM they should set themselves a target of getting maybe 1000 new potential customers as connections on linkedin over the coming months.
- See what your company goals are for growth and align your business development posts accordingly. Use the right # and research how many followers these # have. For instance #renewableenergy has over 600 groups and 100k people following that one #
- Use only 3 - 5 # on each post, too many # and the linkedin algorithms doesn't share your posts far and wide. Incorporate the # into sentences if you want too. For instance "in #solarenergy this week we have seen a steady growth in #business". If the post isn't getting traction and engagement in the first 2 hrs its likely it wont.
- As a BDM they should post daily and especially between the best times of Tuesdays 8am to Thursdays 4pm. Linkedins most used times.
- Comment on peoples relevant posts in your industry and use a minimum of 5 words and use the persons name by using the @ symbol then the name, that way both yours and their followers will see the comment and it creates engagement. Always do this before you hit the like thumbs up or support or other emoji reaction. Another algorithm is watching that too.
- Mention people in your own posts also if you think they have a common goals aligned to you, your business. Try to be factual and keep your core topics first and foremost.
- As a BDM boosting their profile connections, followers and engagement it drives forward both knowledge sharing about you and your business or the subjects you like to talk about within renewables. In turn makes potential clients and customers see the goals.
- last but not least keep track of how you are doing with your social selling index SSI. How do you do that? Go to your linkedin feed / home page and type in after the linkedin.com /sales/ssi you will see the home page change to the following.
Click on the ? on each of the components and it will tell you how to boost your profile and engagement.
