A response to Dr. Wildey

Dr. Wildey states that stainless steel instruments cannot shape curved canals without distortion. I find that puzzling considering Dr. Roane established that short arcs of motion combined with apically directed pressure will allow K-files acting as reamers (shaving dentin away with horizontal, not vertical strokes) to enlarge canals without causing distortions. Despite this research and corroborating research that demonstrated non-distortion through a size 60 K-file he insists that this cannot be. The most rational way I can think of responding is simply to post a number of cases with curved canals that show no signs of distortions all 98% instrumented to a 35 or 40 02 with stainless steel relieved twisted reamers prior to preparing in at least some of the cases with a 30/02 helically relieved rotary instrument. One would think that if distortions were going to occur the first 98% of the canal preparations done with the stainless steel reamers would show some signs of distortion. I suppose he will insist that it does occur, but these cases are holding up and have no complaints from the patients. Not a lot more to say other than he represents a unique experience.

Regards, Barry

As I expected you divert to showing radiographs that you think prove your point.A radiograph does not prove you cleaned the canal or you did not transport the canal or the claims you make. Radiographs as proof of science means nothing. You want proof of what I say and by taking the courses I stated you will get proof. By scientific research your claims can be evaluated. You do not want to make the effort to learn just be critical of those educators that have a scientific approach to evaluating outcomes. I will be glad to continue this after you have met my requirements. Since I know you will not put the effort forth to do them it is pointless to continue this discussion as you ask for me to explain my critique of what you are stating. You will not understand until you complete the educational requirements I put down. So once you have completed them in a couple of years of study we can continue this discussion with real research instead of show and tell. Get in touch with me when you complete these courses and we can continue. Otherwise it makes no sense to continue. Currently we cannot continue this discussion as you need a better understanding of what you are talking about.
