Retailer and restaurants continue to flock to Times Square
Brick and mortar retailers are continuing to open stores in the City and especially in Times Square.
In December 2015, Toys "R" Us closed its 110,000 square foot flagship store in Times Square. In August, the company opened a 35,000 sq. ft. pop-up (temporary store) in the historic Knickerbocker Building at the corner of 42nd street and Broadway. The pop up will serve as a pickup location for online orders, and have three levels.
Later this month, Shelly Fireman, Fireman Hospitality Group, Bond 45 Italian Kitchen & Bar will be relocating from the Old Bond clothing store to larger space located at the Edison Hotel, 221 West 46th street.
July marked the opening of South Korea retailer, "Line Friends", which sells toys, cushions, stationary and other items featuring company brand characters. The company first official store in the U.S. is located at 1515 Broadway.
In August, Foot Locker owned athletic wear retailer, Champs, signed a lease for a two level store at 10 Times Square, also known as 1440 Broadway. They are relocating from the southwest corner of West 42nd street and Seventh Avenue at 5 Times Square. In February, Foot Locker, opened a two level store at 8 Times Square, at 1460 Broadway.
