"Hi, I'm Ken. I was born and raised in Thailand, and Bangkok has been my home for my entire life. I'm currently an MBA candidate at the Kelley School of Business. Prior to this, I accumulated 7 years of experience in the wealth management and fintech sectors. Recently, my focus has been on learning how to leverage Generative AI in professional settings, as its capabilities are revolutionizing business practices. Outside of work, I'm developing a new skill in coffee roasting."

Why did you choose RISE for the internship?

"I chose RISE for my internship because of its unique position in the consulting landscape. As a smaller firm with ambitious goals, RISE offers hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. I'm particularly drawn to their focus on helping large corporations innovate and transform, which aligns with my interest in business adaptation in rapidly changing markets. Additionally, RISE's work with startups fascinates me, as I'm keen to understand the innovation ecosystem. The opportunity to be involved in projects bridging established companies and emerging startups is exciting. This experience promises invaluable insights for my future career in business and technology."

Why are you interested in the RISE Consulting department? 

"I'm interested in RISE's Consulting department because it aligns perfectly with my career goal of pivoting into the consulting industry. The department's focus on innovation is particularly appealing, as I'm eager to learn how to drive transformative change in organizations. Additionally, I'm excited about the potential exposure to RISE Venture Studio's process of creating new startups. This unique combination of consulting for established companies and incubating new ventures offers a comprehensive learning experience. It will allow me to develop a versatile skill set, understanding both how to innovate within existing structures and how to build innovative businesses from the ground up."

Could you tell us more about your current project?

"My current project involves working with Denso, a major automotive supplier. Denso’s revenue heavily depends on the automotive industry, and they recognize the need to diversify and find new growth opportunities or "S-curves" that leverage their existing strengths. Our team is tasked with developing innovative business strategies to help Denso expand into new markets and technologies. This project is particularly challenging but offers a steep learning curve. I'm gaining valuable insights into strategic planning, market analysis, and the complexities of corporate diversification. It's been an eye-opening experience for me working with Denso."

What do you expect from this internship, and did you achieve it?

"Going into this internship, I had three main expectations. First, I wanted to gain a deep understanding of what consulting really entails in practice. Second, I aimed to acquire hands-on consulting experience to prepare for a full-time role in the industry. Lastly, I hoped to learn from and build connections with team members. I'm pleased to say that I've achieved all these goals. The projects I've worked on have provided invaluable insights into the consulting process, from problem-solving to client interactions. I've developed practical skills and formed meaningful relationships with colleagues. This experience has confirmed my career path and equipped me with the knowledge and network to succeed in consulting."
