Robo Advisor Hype

I have been hearing more and more about robo-advisor investment firms and hearing some people ask:

  • "Why wouldn't I just do my own investing?"
  • "Is your industry really getting hit by these robo-advisors?"

That option can definitely be great for some people…if they want that responsibility. Even for a do-it-yourselfer, it makes sense to have a professional take a look at your investments periodically and give you feedback. There's also been a lot of media hype around robo-advisors, but at this point, there aren't many people clamoring for the cheapest possible advice. I read recently that less than 3% of serious investors have even heard of the most popular robo-advisor companies. Also, a good financial advisor is looking well beyond investments. They are also:

  • making sure insurance policies are up to date;
  • overseeing the estate plan;
  • making sue you have enough income in retirement, etc.

So, even if you are a do-it-yourselfer, think about contacting a trusted financial professional for a no obligation 2nd opinion or risk analysis or if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at 714-319-7956 or jerryc1914@verizon.net.
