Ropes, Rope Technology & Standards

Ropes are an integral part of any access or egress system and tactical users demand a lot from their ropes systems. Our latest technical brochure highlights the diverse types of ropes available, the standards they adhere to and their key features so that end users have more information on choosing the most suitable rope for a specific task.

Tactical end users place high demands on the static ropes they use; entry through broken windows, descent over sharp edges and exposure to high temperatures - all with heavier loads than normally used in a civilian environment.

In order to counter these threats, low stretch tactical ropes often use aramid fibres in their construction to provide additional resistance to damage from abrasion, cutting or heat. The higher strength of the aramid fibres also allow ropes to be built with smaller diameters and lighter weight/pack size.

End users now have a choice of ropes from the 6mm CTOMS TRACE, to the well regarded 8mm OpLux and 9.5mm Tactical Response from Sterling to the new 11mm Rescue Assault from Teufelberger that is getting very good feedback.

Dynamic ropes for operational tactical use have similarly high requirements, and those used in the mountains particularly so with the following properties all ideal; skinny, light, tough, dry treated, triple-rated and in subdued colours.

Our bespoke range of Tendon dynamic ropes cover all applications from the 8.9mm triple rated, dry treated Master Pro to the workhorse Ambition TeFix 10.2mm.

Accessory - Rigging Cords

The advances in rope construction and technology have cascaded down into EN 564 Accessory Cords and the inclusion of aramid and HMPE fibres in their construction has not only increased their strength, but also made them harder to cut and decreased their stretch. This has made them perfect for creating lightweight, low volume rigging systems without compromising strength or safety.

To assist in making informed decisions, we have created a comprehensive brochure detailing the various standards, tests, materials, and requirements associated with ropes. Additionally, the brochure showcases our complete range of ropes, encompassing static, low stretch, and dynamic varieties.

We hope that you find this brochure useful.
