Are Rules Stifling You?
A follow-up to Monday…
What is it that drives our behavior?
What makes the process or the procedure (in my book, the process taken to the extreme) work sometimes and other times seem like mere barriers to progress?
Why do companies talk about resource integration as if trying to bring together diverse cultures separated by eons of development?
And, why can the simplest desire to team play become complicated and even nasty?
Why indeed? We seem to spend way too much time worrying about the rules and not enough time thinking about what’s right.
Don’t get me wrong—rules are important, but rules are best as a framework. We create them to help, to provide guard rails, but not as an excuse. They aren’t law. Rules as a way of life restrict thinking, limit free choices (read creativity), and get in the way of advancement and unrestricted development.
Ah!!! You say...(unless you read my IMAGINE on the subject), but how do I know what’s right? How do I know I’m making the right choices and can keep from worrying about the wrong ones?

How do I know that following the rules wouldn’t be a better choice and take the chance that I won’t fall into the stagnation trap????
Truth? I don’t have a clue. But I do know that there is nothing more powerful than INTENT. The most potent connector of people is the sheer desire to connect, the need to be a part of a team, the aspiration to create bigger and better together, the craving for company outside of your own, a voice different than your own, and a point of view different than your own.
Given all of that, I will take the risk every time—so long as I see and feel all the players' INTENT (ethical, of course!).
This makes the point:

And so it goes. We need to be greater. We need to do right. We need to have INTENT. We need to have the rights, the laws, the processes, and the procedures all fall into place as guides like they should be (and not the collars they often become).

1yIn my point of view, I believe that the world deserves healing and also we ourselves with our differences, supporting nature is important even more so now where climate studies no longer depend on a few but on our survival and protection of species that can find the balance with the measurements in quantum physics and the more macro forms reflected in the destruction that we ourselves have created by not taking charge of a political psychoanalytic development that favors the world and its creation. This is my opinion regarding the new needs that we must detect as a species and protect ourselves as such because we were never alone in life and taking care of it, protecting it and protecting it is the only mission in the face of survival in the universe.
