RxD: Exceptionally stable inkjet pigment dispersions for the widest range of applications

Aqueous inkjet technology continues to grow across print markets such as commercial, packaging, textile and industrial applications, driven by the benefits in production flexibility and cost reduction for shorter run-lengths.

The drive for developments in pigment ink technology has been fueled by its potential advantages over dye-based inks. In general, pigment inks can offer better durability and fastness. Specifically in textiles, pigment inks can offer environmental advantages too, by using less energy and water in post-processing compared to reactive dye.

The critical core component in high-performance pigment inks is the pigment dispersion, which serves as the foundation for successful ink formulation.

That's why Fujifilm developed its own pigment dispersion technology, capable of producing exceptional quality print in high-speed single-pass inkjet systems.

With its performance proven in Fujifilm inks, RxD dispersions are now available to other ink manufacturers.

RxD dispersions use a precision stabilization process that locks the pigment particles in a robust cage of cross-linked polymer. The cross-linking reaction is independent of the pigment and prevents polymer disengagement in the presence of solvents.

Exceptional stability enables the use of a very wide range of ink formulation components, including strong co-solvents and aggressive surfactants to achieve high image quality and ink functionality. The high pigment concentration provides flexibility in achieving the optimum formulation. Compatibility with soluble and emulsive binders and latexes ensures endurance.

The ultra-high purity of RxD dispersions enables the creation of inks for the most demanding inkjet systems, minimizing the risk of nozzle blockages or printhead damage. Precision manufacturing processes and quality control systems ensure RxD dispersions consistently meet their specification, which is critical for reliable ink production.

Fujifilm's well-proven RxD dispersions have the right properties to create robust inks for the widest range of mainstream aqueous inkjet applications and demanding applications of the future. For printhead architectures like MEMS, with higher resolutions and small drop sizes; for performance and adhesion on difficult target substrates such as plastic films; for the formulation of low-viscosity, fast-drying inks for high-speed single-pass applications that remain stable in the printhead.

Colors

In addition to CMYK colors, the RxD range includes orange, green, violet, and red pigments for formulating extended color gamut ink sets.

Compliance

RxD dispersions comply with Swiss Ordinance SR817.023.21. They also have GOTS approval and OEKO-TEX® certification for textiles.

Availability

RxD pigment dispersions are globally available to ink formulators and manufacturers, supplied from Fujifilm's dispersion production facilities in Europe and the USA. Please contact Fujifilm to request a trial sample.
