I am excited to share my personal highlights from the Sapphire 2024 Virtual event on SAP developments and extensions in this blog. The keynotes showcased numerous remarkable innovations with the potential to simplify, accelerate, and automate SAP-related development. From innovative functional enhancements to technological AI advancements, I will delve into the key points and their potential impact on the future use of SAP. Join me in exploring the fascinating world of the latest SAP developments and discover the trends and innovations that await us in the coming years.
I will not cover the latest information on AI in this post, as it warrants its own blog. Additionally, I won't discuss previously demonstrated scenarios and tools like SAP Build Code, even though they were significant topics. The partnerships, their impacts, and benefits will also be addressed in a separate blog.

Creating an SAP Extension Following SAP's Clean Core Principles (from minute 42:00)
I want to create custom logic in my system based on specific criteria. For example: "Creating prices based on certain external events." First, I will consult ChatGPT, which will outline the process. Then, I will ask SAP Joule for more detailed and precise instructions:

This structure helps implement custom logic efficiently and according to SAP's Clean Core best practices.
Open the SAP Learning page and learn how to create custom logic at this point. Understand which data, apps, and logic you can use.
Next, proceed with the request in SAP Joule to point 6: How do I create custom logic for the business case? Navigate to the Custom Logic app.
The Custom Logic App is created. Now, I can ask SAP Joule to generate the following logic in ABAP code. I provide a brief prompt with the desired logic. SAP Joule delivers the corresponding code, which I can expand, modify, and customize as needed. The future is now!

The ability to create extensions directly within the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud application. This feature is available in the "User Actions" menu under "Create Extension." Please see the image for reference.
A popup, similar to the new lobby in SAP Build, will appear, allowing you to choose between:

SAP Integration Suite (from minute 57:20)

Generating an SAP Integration IFlow with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) can significantly simplify and accelerate the development process. In this example, we demonstrate how SAP's Integration Suite leverages AI, particularly Joule, to support this process.
In a demonstrated example, an IFlow was generated by pre-selecting the appropriate integration package. While this is a relatively simple demonstration, it shows the direction in which the Integration Suite is evolving – towards greater automation and efficiency through the use of AI. Joule is omnipresent and supports the entire process.

Another excellent example is monitoring. AI-powered monitoring can highlight abnormalities compared to normal operations, providing valuable insights. This showcases how AI can enhance monitoring by identifying and addressing issues more efficiently than traditional methods.
This example highlights how the Integration Suite is enhanced by AI-enabled features to provide user-friendly and efficient solutions for complex integration scenarios.

Interaction with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Joule, and SAP Build
Another clear example of increased efficiency through AI is the interaction between SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Joule, and SAP Build. When you ask Joule a question, you not only receive a direct answer but also helpful suggestions on how to use SAP Build further.
Example:
You ask Joule about a specific business request. Joule responds and suggests that you create a custom skill in SAP Build to assist with similar requests in the future.
Example Interaction:
This seamless integration and proactive support from Joule demonstrate how AI-powered tools can enhance efficiency and user experience in SAP applications. Joule is always present, actively supporting you with intelligent suggestions and references to useful features in SAP Build.
Create a new custom skill requirement in SAP Build using AI.
The result of the custom skill request to AI should include the scenario, source, and instructions.
We did not cover SAP Build Code here, as these changes were announced earlier. Additionally, we did not mention further updates in the areas of Build Automation and Signavio. I will write more about this later.
I am excited about the future with SAP and the new tools! SAP Joule will transform our experience with SAP, both as partners and customers.
