SBC Media enhances Brazilian Editorial Coverage
Ahead of the launch of the regulated market in Brazil, leading industry media network SBC has strengthened its editorial team in Brazil with two new appointments.
Eighteen months on from the launch of SBC Notícias Brasil , Ricardo Wuilleumier Alves de Assis has joined as Editor and will look to further cement the site’s reputation as the go-to destination for news and editorial content on the Brazilian sports betting and iGaming market.
An experienced editor, Assis joins SBC from Brazilian cable TV network Bandsports, where he served as a television editor for three years, and is a graduate of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism.
Assis commented: “I’m hugely excited to be joining SBC Media in such a prestigious position. I have a deep fascination with the gaming industry, and can’t wait to help shape the media coverage of an industry that is exploding in interest and popularity here in Brazil.”
Joining Assis is Ana Maria Mendes , who has joined SBC Media as a Business Journalist on SBC Notícias Brasil. Menezes is a graduate of the University of São Paulo, and brings three years of experience in content creation in both Portuguese and English.
Menezes added: “I’m delighted to have joined SBC Media and look forward to reporting the news as it breaks as we head towards the launch of the regulated industry. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Ricardo, and can’t wait to grow my skills and contribute towards SBC Notícias Brasil’s position as the leading destination for all Brazilian industry content in Portuguese.”
The two join existing business journalist Elisa Marcante , who has been reporting the news for SBC Notícias Brasil since July 2023. The appointments allow Senior Journalist Isadora Marcante to take up a new role as Relationship Manager – Brazil at SBC, where she’ll focus on strengthening SBC’s relationships with Brazilian operators and affiliates.
SBC Managing Director Andrew McCarron commented: “The Brazilian market is obviously going to play a major part in the future of the industry, so it was important for us to be able to report directly from the region in the local language.
“Alongside SBC Noticias , which covers the Spanish-speaking LATAM markets with Editor Lucía Gando and Senior Journalist Fernando Noodt Molins , our move to enhance local editorial coverage in Portuguese cements SBC as a key news organisation in the region.”
The full SBC Noticias team will be in attendance at SBC Summit Latinoamérica from October 29-31 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Miami, as well as in Rio de Janeiro for the second edition of SBC Summit Rio in February 2025. Attendees in Miami can meet the team by visiting the SBC Noticias booth at P30.
