Score or No Score, write it off!

Score or No Score, write it off!

Adhyan felt bad about his overall performance in annual test and for days, he would isolate, avoid going out or play with his friends. It worried his grandma. She would often call him or cheer him up with his favourite meal but nothing worked. She then, decided to talk and brought a new pencil and a notebook while coming to his room.

Adhyan looked at his grandma all-puzzled and asked, “Grandma, why are you carrying this pencil and a notebook?”

Grandma replied, “I bought you a gift to cheer you up...”

Grandma, I don't deserve all of this.... I scored so poor..., he said, bowing his head down.

To which, his grandma replied, “Adhyan, then write again because this pencil works...

Adhyan said, “I am not getting what you are saying!”

His grandma explained,

“See this pencil. It’s just like you. But it cannot write a thing until you sharpen its edges....

....so let me sharpen the edges and see

....it writes”

Still confused, Adhyan asked, “Grandma, why are you telling me the obvious... and how I am like this pencil?

Grandma replies, “Because! You too have to go through the pain of experiencing failures. This pencil cannot write a thing on paper until it goes through a painful experience of sharpening its edges. So do you!

....and guess what? This makes you a better student!”

Adhyan listens to her carefully and asks, “How?”

His grandma explains, “Because you can still rise above your failures until you win! Not just this, the lead in this pencil suggests that all the good lies within you. You just have to sharpen your skills and find your strengths to overcome the failure.”

Adhyan replied, “Hmm... grandma you make everything sound so seamless!”

Grandma further said, “In that case, this isn’t over yet! Do you know what makes us all proud?”

Adhyan thought about it for a while and replied, “probably when I polish those skills and get that perfect A+ ?!?!!”

Grandma finally concluded, “NO”

Just as this pencil will make its mark on paper, you too shall leave your mark on anything you choose to. Just give your best, no matter what! We know when you put in the efforts!”

At this, Adhyan was overwhelmed as he moved to hug her grandma. He promised himself that he would perform better and not let this failure define his future score.

Adhyan’s story is a testament to the struggle of all the students who put effort yet score. You are nothing but a better student than others who give up after coming so far!

It’s 2023 so let us take a resolution to fail more resolution without giving up on trying again.

If you fail again, just write it off.....
