SECI Achieves Navratna Status, Strengthening India’s Renewable Efforts;DERC Sets ₹150 Crore Threshold for Intra-State Transmission Project and More...

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has been granted Navratna status by the Ministry of Finance. This recognition, which marks SECI’s 13th year since its incorporation, enhances its financial and operational autonomy, paving the way for accelerated growth and innovation in India’s renewable energy sector.


The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has introduced new draft regulations governing the development of intra-state transmission projects in Delhi. Named the “Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (Threshold Limit for the Development of Intra-State Transmission Projects under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding) Regulations, 2024,” these rules will be effective from the date they are published in the official Gazette.


Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL) (GUVNL) has issued a Request for Selection (RfS) for the development of 400 MW/800 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Gujarat. The initiative includes an additional “Green Shoe” option, allowing for an extra 400 MW/800 MWh capacity, making the total potential capacity 800 MW/1600 MWh. The projects will be established under a “Build-Own-Operate” (BOO) model, with developers selected through a tariff-based global competitive bidding process.


Senvion India has announced a significant new order for 86.4 MW from Continuum Green Energy in Gujarat, marking a continued partnership between the two companies. This latest order brings the total capacity Senvion will deliver to Continuum across five projects to 270 MW. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in October 2024, with grid commissioning expected by March 2025.

This state-of-the-art facility is now fully operational and equipped with advanced automated systems for large-scale Lithium-ion battery and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing.
