The Secret Technique To Greater Team Performance

The Secret Technique To Greater Team Performance

When the Brazilian skydiving team set the national skydiving record, they used a technique none of their competitors knew about.

It’s called heart coherence.

This technique is not just for sports but for any team that wants to go to the next level.

Many high-performing teams have all the right elements:  skillset, intelligence, experience, persistence, and hard work. But oftentimes, these teams can fall short even with the best of intentions.

Just like the Brazilian skydiving team.

According to team leads Andre and Juliana, the team had the skills, experience, and determination to achieve the world record. But the first couple of days of attempts, they weren’t syncing up. The initial attempts left them feeling disconnected, rushing through the motions, and out of sync.

Has this ever happened with your team?

You know they have everything it takes but something is off. The team just feels out of sync.

And the truth is, they are just that:  out of sync.

On the big day of the jump to set the world record, Andre, sensing his team was out of alignment, decided to do an exercise he had learned about getting in sync. It was a simple yet profound exercise that allows the body, mind, emotions and entire nervous system to align and be in balance.

Andre knew if he could get each of the team members in sync and balance he could connect all members of the team together, in harmony and energetic coordination.

He gathered everyone around and performed a quick 5-6 minutes of a heart coherence technique.

For a few minutes, the team members focused on increasing their situational awareness and energetic dynamics and building connection with one another.

In just 6 minutes, a quiet calm had fallen over the group. Andre felt the shift in energy. He sensed the harmony and how the team was now in sync. That’s when he knew they were ready. Not just Andre, but the entire team felt it.

It was time to go!

They went on with the jump, feeling the flow, at ease and in harmony and sync.  This flow was the key that unlocked the door to setting the world record.

They broke the skydiving formation record with 54 people!!

Reflecting on this incredible experience, we witness the power of unity and synchronization as a team.

You alone can function at your best. Your team members can also function alone at their best.

The question is… can you excel as a team?

At the conclusion of the jump Andre said “When everyone works together, the results are so much more than what any one person can achieve alone. With each team member playing their part and contributing, we created something bigger and better than anyone could have ever dreamed of. The reward was a feeling of connectedness,”

This remarkable achievement highlighted the importance of holistic training, not just in building technical skills, but in fostering deeper connections and understanding among team members.

This is what I apply with my teams and what I teach my clients.

The tools we use provided a framework for improving our situational awareness, enhancing our personal resilience, and cultivating empathy and compassion within the team. By aligning our values and mindsets, we are able to transcend unconscious biases and tap into our collective potential.

The training experience with Core Performance also sheds light on the power of effective communication and facilitation. By bringing everyone together, creating moments of coherence, and instilling a shared sense of purpose, teams unlock their full potential. It is through this unity that world records are set and teams soar to new heights.

The impact of this experience goes beyond skydiving. These lessons can apply to any team in any industry.

Together, let’s break records and flow in sync.

Hi Julie Hutchinson .... we don't fully understand the capabilities & forcefield created by the human heart do we? I've been reading about heart coherence from the Heartmath Institute - and it blows my mind. From many you can create ONE.
