Security and Data Breaches

Oracle Database Cloud Service (ODCS) provides industrial-strength physical and logical security. It’s closed off and secure by default, but customers have the flexibility to open network ports as needed. To access the database in their VM, customers can use port opening, SSH tunneling, SQL*Net, web access, and more. In the case of the Schema Service offering, databases provided with minimal privileges to increase isolation and restrict OS and network access. ODCS also supports user and role management, as well as single sign-on. In addition, depending on the subscription service (e.g., EE High Performance or EE Extreme Performance), customers can deploy additional security-related database options. Some of these options include Advanced Security, Data Masking and Subsetting Pack, Database Vault, and Label Security. Finally, customers can select a desired management level (e.g., virtual image, automated, or managed) to handle patching, upgrades, and other tasks, which can impact security. Depending on the service, ODCS provides management tools to help self-service customer automate such tasks.
