SEEKD FASHION
When starting a brand, it's essential to know what your cause is and what you believe. To build a brand with purpose, you need to have your values at the forefront of your mind and a clear map of how your business lives up to them; the specific actions taken to realise your why.
SEEKD Fashion is a curated marketplace for ethically made jewellery, that make it easier than ever to make positive shopping choices that are friendly to the planet.
They represent Duxford Studios and Millie Marks, who use recycled materials to create their pieces. Emma Anderson has a collection inspired by nature.
Both Doa and Quazi work with artisans in developing countries and support them to earn a livelihood, developing their businesses and providing jobs.
When starting out, founder Fay Cannings wanted to support small businesses and create a new way for customers to find beautiful and diverse collections of jewellery, especially from brands who want to create a positive impact. She wanted to encourage people to shop local and independent. She thought it would be a good idea to help designers access opportunities that they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to do.
Here's what sustainability means to Fay:
Preserving and investing in our planet for future generations. It’s mindful of the impact that the designing and making process has on people and the planet. It’s a commitment to sourcing fair-trade, fair-minded and ecologically sustainable materials that aren’t harmful to the environment.
Seekd commit to sustainability by:
They use materials that are already recycled or can be naturally replenished like sustainable plant alternatives. The key to making jewellery is mining metals and gemstones, so they ensure that work is fair-trade. They work with social partnerships that provide local artists with more trading and up–skill opportunities.

In 2018, we created visual design assets inspired by the natural world. Colour, image and typography communicate the ethos of the brand; we chose earthy tones coupled with images of nature to tell Seekd’s story. Building on their existing brand and assets, we also created a social media strategy and style guide for social media.
On an ongoing basis, we help Seekd with blog–writing, social media templates and flyer design. Take a look at some of the blogs we wrote for them: Good as Gold, Let down your Heirlooms and Our industry in Flux.
“Alexandra created a social media style guide for my business which is a platform for different craft jewellers to showcase and sell their work. I was keen to ensure I had a clear colour scheme, set of images and fonts to complement my curated collection of brands and art–directed product images”
