Self - Discipline

Self - Discipline

Discipline is a word we frequently hear used. It represents something most of us rarely direct toward ourselves. Adults generally feel the neighbor's kids don't get enough of it and military leaders tell us the strength of a country's armed forces depend on it.

Thousands of individuals become independent business people, and large number leave salaried positions for commissioned sales to escape it. However, any person who enjoys any degree of success will be quick to tell you that discipline is to success what carbon is to steel. The mark of superior performers is people who can give themselves a command and then follow it.

If we truly want to win at whatever we are doing, there will be a number of activities we will have to engage in that we may not be fond of doing. This is where discipline enters the picture - self-discipline.

You may have been in a position where it was necessary to do what someone else told you to do or else. The or else was more distasteful than doing as you were told, so you did it.

There are a number of things you could do today which will make you more effective. You know what they are and you know how to do them.

I am not suggesting you attempt to do all of them, but I would like to suggest you bring yourself to engage in these two new activities one day at a time for a month and see what happens. You will be amazed and delighted with your results.

Remember, the marks of superior performers are people who can give themselves a command and then follow it.
