AustCham Korea supports Team Australia at H2 MEET EXPO
On the 13th of September, AustCham Korea attended the H2 MEET expo in support of the Australia-Korea business community and members under the #TeamAustralia umbrella.
H2 MEET, which started as the 'H2 Mobility+Energy Show' title, has now become an international event covering the entire hydrogen industry. It aims to build business partnerships and create tangible results with the participation of many global exhibitors and institutions equipped with cutting-edge technologies in the hydrogen field.
With many Australian industry delegates hosted at the Team Australia booth, it was also impressive that both POSCO and Korea Zinc showcased their work within the Australia-Korea energy space with large visual booths. In addition to meeting new and existing hydrogen representatives, the Chamber attended Austrade's Australia Country Day session, which hosted presentations from AustCham Korea Members FFI, Pilot Energy, NSW Government, QLD Government, and SA State Government.
After seeing the positive feedback from attendees, the Chamber is confident that H2 MEET will continue to grow, as will the opportunities for bilateral trade and investment within this field.
AustCham Korea at the 44th KABC-AKBC Joint Meeting
AustCham Korea would like to congratulate the organisers for 44th KABC-AKBC Joint Meeting in Seoul on 8th of September.
The two-day program attracted a large number of delegates from Australia and Korea, and featured speeches from interim AKBC Chairman John Walker AM, KABC Chairman Choi Jeong-woo, Western Australian Premier, Roger Cook, and the Australian Ambassador to Korea, H.E Catherine Raper.
The Joint Meeting provided a great platform for the Australian-Korean business community to gather, network, discuss, and share industry-related updates. Day two consisted of many seminars and panel discussions on five key sectors, including ‘Promoting Research and Industry Cooperation’, ‘Critical Minerals’, ‘Defense and Space', 'Innovation in Traditional Industries’, and ‘Energy – Green Transition’.
In addition to seeing the Chamber’s Tier One membership, Eastpoint Partners, Investment NSW, Korea Zinc, and POSCO Holdings playing a prominent role at the Joint Meeting, the Chamber would like to congratulate its Chair, Mr. Ross Gregory, who led the panel discussion on Critical Minerals.
The program also included many touching remarks and a commemoration video for the late AKBC Chairman, the Hon Simon Crean, who suddenly passed away earlier this year.
The next Joint Meeting will take place in Perth, Western Australia in September 2024.
AustCham Korea Co-Hosts the South Australia Grand Wine Tasting Event
AustCham Korea proudly co-hosted the South Australia Grand Wine Tasting event alongside the South Australian Government on Wednesday, August 30 at the Grand Hyatt Seoul.
The event was a great success, bringing together both local and expat communities in Seoul for an unforgettable evening. With DJ Sterling keeping the crowd entertained with chillaxed beats, guests were treated to over 170 world-class wines from 53 esteemed wineries in South Australia, paired alongside a delicious 5 stay Australian-style BBQ.
To add to the excitement of the evening, there was a lucky draw at the end of the night with attendees having the chance to win a Hyatt staycation, return flights to Hong Kong courtesy of Cathay Pacific, and a whole host of premium food and beverage good packs, kindly donated by South Australian business community.
AustCham Korea would like to thank the South Australian government for all their work in co-hosting the event and wishes the best of luck to all wine vendors who participated.
AustCham Korea Co-Hosts H2 MEET Networking Function
Leveraging our in-country network, the Chamber had the pleasure of co-hosting the H2Meet pre-networking function on the 12th of September.
Before H2 MEET, the world’s largest hydrogen trade show, Austrade Korea and AustCham Korea co-hosted a pre-networking function at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul, which was attended by around 90 guests, including an Australian delegation of energy representatives and Tier 1 (Platinum and Gold) Members from the Chamber.
The function put the spotlight on Australian and Korean organisations from industry, government, and research with strong ambitions to seek possible partnership opportunities bilaterally in energy transition, including hydrogen.
Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to network and hear about the latest clean energy updates from participating State governments eager to seek collaboration with Korean partners. AustCham Korea would like to thank Austrade for their partnership on the event and look forward to working with its energy-related stakeholders at upcoming events.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) is joining South Australia's green cement conversion project through an MOU and SOC with the South Australian State Government, Hallett Group, and Elecseed.
Unlike traditional cement production, which emits significant carbon, green cement relies on hydrogen from solar power and electrolysis, reducing emissions. Surplus hydrogen will be used in nearby filling stations.

Fostering Global Citizenship at Dulwich College Seoul
Dulwich College Seoul had the joy of welcoming Gabby Green, a proud alumna from the class of 2019, back to their campus. Gabby led their students in an enriching dialogue about the importance of intercultural communication and understanding, principles at the heart of an organisation she founded, New Global Normal.
Gabby wanted to play to her strength of being a Third-Culture Kid (Australian who grew up in Hong Kong and Korea and went to school with students from over 40 countries) – a “superpower” as she called it – to bridge cultural gaps and foster global harmony in a world that is increasingly interconnected yet plagued by divisions. Her youth-led initiative aims to change the world for the better and Dulwich College Seoul could not be prouder of her leadership.
Gabby graduated University of St. Andrews with honours and is slated to attend London School of Economics for a master’s degree. She took a gap year to focus on expanding the work she started thought New Global Normal – founding a Dulwich College Seoul chapter and seeking to further expand the organisation’s reach worldwide.
Gabby’s visit perfectly encapsulates the Dulwich ethos—that active and meaningful engagement across different cultures is an invaluable investment in a more harmonious global future.
