Serendipity and Skincare

Serendipity and Skincare

The most significant physical driving factor for starting my business was moving to The Farm. This move forced me to confront the reality that my path towards law school might not be what I truly loved and wanted to do, but rather what I felt I was 'supposed' to do. This realization culminated in a serendipitous moment of inspiration, where I opened up to my mom and decided to ditch law school to pursue my real passion: bringing The Farm experience to anyone, anywhere.

Our initial vision was to create a simplified skincare line that combined as many results into as few products as possible. This vision remains unchanged!

A major positive "oh shit" moment happened while watching football with my husband on a Sunday. Travis Kelce appeared in an ad wearing our skincare products. A makeup artist I had been working with closely used it on him organically and tagged us. We shared the story on social media, gained new customers, and broke into the sports scene.

The journey has been a mix of discomfort (lots of figuring things out on the fly, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and fear) and extreme joy (the highs are higher than anything I've felt before). It has fostered personal growth, pride in being a woman, and connections with people I wouldn't have met otherwise. Our persistence paid off when we were turned down by the same retailer three times before finally getting in, thanks to an unlikely connection. This resilience makes me happy and hopeful for the future.

While the vision has largely stayed the same, the applications have expanded. Initially, we aimed to create a face oil that smells incredible to elevate the skincare experience from a chore to a delight. Now, people use our face oil during panic attacks or times of anxiety, and I've realized our scent blend is a powerful aromatherapy tool. It has found new applications in meditation, yoga, and mental health routines. Our product, Inner Glow, has also become beloved by men as an excellent beard oil and for delivering fast, natural results on set. Seeing it used on TV, by A-listers at cover shoots, and on the sets of Vogue and Suits has been incredible. Although I intended it to be unisex, I didn't expect it to be so popular with top male groomers.

My advice is to stay focused on your vision and take it all the way without getting distracted.

Serendipitous moments are the sweetest. There is nothing like finding inspiration in an unanticipated place. Amandine discovered her catalyst to growth and significant opportunities wasn’t on the path she thought she was supposed to be on but a path she had yet to explore.

Have you ever thought you had your life or your career figured out? You’ve planned it sometimes to the minute detail but find you have a nagging feeling that something is still off or not right. I think we all have. But what do you do with that feeling? Do you ignore it because it goes against your plans or do you listen, take a chance, and do something scary and explore the unknown?

I think some of our biggest dreams happen when we take that chance, explore the unknown and try what might start out as an impossible dream.

Dream big.

It can be scary especially when it goes against what you (and maybe others) saw your future looking like. Embracing serendipity requires an open mind and willingness to pivot, recognizing the best paths are sometimes those we never planned to take.

In entrepreneurship, as in life, serendipity often bridges the gap between where we are and where we dream of being.

Amandine dreamed big, continued with the vision she started with, and found herself in an unexpected and wildly exciting oh sh*t moment that she had no idea would happen. It is joyful to see something you created enjoyed by another person and shared so others can benefit from it too. It helps eliminate the self-doubt, imposter syndrome and fear that accompany dreaming big.

Remain open to the magic of serendipity and maybe you too can experience the unexpected journey of building something extraordinary, turning a chance encounter into pivotal moments of success.

Like what you are up/down to. In 2015 while I was teaching in China I began a Foundation to train those with feminine values and attributes to become leaders, to replace the masculine leadership in our world. My research on climate change since 1975 showed how the masculine version of the industrial had given us climate change and its consequences. I felt the feminine was the best route forward to manage the consequences, thus leadership needed to change and move toward the feminine. I started a Foundation of the Eternal Feminine in 2015 in China that was to do such. It was in memory and dishonor of Trump, that I saw as about to become president of the US. This would occur as the US deserved such an exaggerated leader type who had no place to go. The Foundation attracted much money from fathers leading major companies that had no sons. It did well until 2021 when it was banned by Chinese leadership as they felt China's future required more masculinity, not less, and certainly not the feminine. Its funding disappeared as it was closed. The English version of its website is still open, at EternalFeminine.org. See what you think. Good luck in your endeavor. You are moving in the right right direction. David.

So many people keep going because it’s “what they are supposed to do”, rather then what truly resonates with them and I wonder how they can persevere when been far from their true calling. This is story is both, inspiring and motivating. The bottom line is that even when doing what we truly love the path won’t be easy, but a clear vision, fueled by passion, is an unbeatable recipe to succeed!
