Serving First Responders' Mental Health: Open House
This year Diversified Rehabilitation Group's annual Open House serves as a valuable learning opportunity for psychologists, psychiatrists, clinical counselors, social workers, leaders, and other mental health treatment providers who work with veterans, first responders, and their family members. The event aims to bring together professionals from diverse backgrounds to share their knowledge, experiences, and insights. By facilitating this exchange of information, the open house seeks to enhance the understanding of public law enforcement personnel, military service members, and their loved ones who have faced occupational stress injuries and the associated side effects. Through collaborative discussions, workshops, and presentations, attendees gain valuable insights into these individuals' unique challenges and needs as well as develop effective strategies for providing support and treatment. The open house is vital in fostering a network of professionals dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of those who have served their communities and countries. This year we have a diverse group of speakers addressing the following topics: Immersive Mental Health Programs Darcy Kuhl , Moral Injury Lynne Wiseman , Exposure Therapy David Eveleigh, PhD , Service Related Sexual Trauma Grant Bogyo , Return-to-Work Challenges Shahin Mehdizadeh (Makoy’i tooma), M.O.M. , Trauma Informed Leadership Jeff Morley and Reflection from First Responders, and Vital Arguments for Culture-Informed Care and Treatment for Police and Other First Responders Norm Taylor .
In recognition of the limited space available at our annual open house, we have taken steps to ensure that those who were unable to register still have the opportunity to benefit from the event. This year, we are excited to offer a virtual session on "Vital Arguments for Culture-Informed Care and Treatment for Police and Other First Responders" by Norm Taylor . This session will provide valuable insights into the importance of considering cultural and organizational factors when providing support to law enforcement personnel and other first responders. Norm, renowned in the field, will delve into the nuances of culture-informed approaches and explore how they can positively impact the well-being of these individuals. By offering this virtual session, we hope to extend the reach of our event and provide valuable education to a broader audience. To register click HERE
