Shashi Tharoor takes a Jibe at PM Modi through Speech on Nehru, Sparks Controversy

In a tribute to India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, on his 60th death anniversary, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor made a provocative statement highlighting Nehru's enduring legacy. Tharoor emphasized, “We should not forget Jawaharlal Nehru's contributions,” adding that it was the democratic institutions and values established during Nehru's 17-year tenure that allowed "a tea seller" (a reference to current Prime Minister Narendra Modi) to ascend to the nation's highest office.

The Congress party paid homage to Nehru, with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge lauding Nehru's unmatched role in shaping modern India. Kharge and former Congress president Sonia Gandhi offered floral tributes at Nehru's memorial, 'Shantivan'. In a poignant message on social media, Kharge stated that India's history is incomplete without acknowledging Nehru's significant contributions to scientific, economic, and industrial progress.

Describing Nehru as a steadfast protector of democracy and a source of inspiration, Kharge said, "Our humble tribute to 'Hind ke Jawahar' on his death anniversary." He reiterated Nehru's vision of national unity, quoting the former Prime Minister's belief in equal opportunities for all, regardless of religion, state, or language. Nehru's dream was an India where wealth disparity was minimized, and all citizens had equal chances for progress.

Kharge also highlighted that the Congress party continues to uphold Nehru's principles of justice. Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi paid his respects, describing Nehru as a visionary who dedicated his life to India's freedom movement, democracy, secularism, and the foundational values of the Constitution. Gandhi's tribute echoed the sentiment that Nehru's principles remain a guiding light for the nation.

Additionally, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh offered heartfelt tributes to Nehru, commemorating his impactful tenure. Nehru, India's longest-serving Prime Minister, passed away while in office in 1964, leaving behind a legacy that continues to influence the country's democratic fabric.

30th day (One Month) : My advice to the customers: Think twice before buying any VOLTAS product. Voltas customer care is sub-standard. I am having a horrid time with Voltas, wherein the technician provided a wrong solution, swindled money and Voltas is yet to send me the bill/receipt even after more than 30 days (One month). Customer care keeps giving me false hopes of resolution on Request No 24042907418. Only lip service, without resolution. On 21 May I received an sms from Voltas stating that they have cancelled the Request No unilaterally. Overall a very poor service from Voltas. #Voltas A TATA Enterprise
