Shevchenkivskyi Hai Open-Air Museum in Lviv

This museum will give you a complete overview of the ethnic history and culture of the Western Ukraine. It is located near the High Hill castle, so you will be impressed with the amazing nature views and landscapes. The museum’s area is 9 ha, and there are 6 ethnographic zones, each of them has its own style and architecture.

Wandering through the narrow cosy paths you will explore traditional Ukrainian huts, historical constructions, including 6 authentic wooden churches. There is also an impressive collection of the household items that counts with more than 20 thousand pieces. You will also see the oldest exhibit of the open-air museum – the peasant hut that was constructed in 1749. This museum was created in order to protect original national folklore. The keepers of the houses willingly demonstrate such conventional crafts as blacksmithing, weaving, and bee farming.

Lviv is a wonderful place, steeped in history and poetry. Its a city for the romantic in you. I miss Lviv so much am long overdue a a visit.

Wow I would love to come to that place. Have you ever been to the Experimental Aviation Air show at Oshkosh Wisconsin(EAA) every year last week of July. I have seen many War birds including Mig 19 and Mig 15(Zwirko)

I’ve been there—the entire structure is assembled without the use of nails. It’s a tremendous example of workmanship, care, and faith.
