The Shine Report, Vol. 1 Open-Minded~ necessary on the journey to our own best version

As part of my commitment to be a part of the solution (vs the problem) prompted by this year of potential crisis in our country, I pledge to practice open-mindedness as often as I can, making it my vigilant companion.

More eloquent voices than mine have this to say about open-mindedness:

If you want the truth to stand clear before you, never be for or against. The struggle between 'for' and 'against' is the mind's worst disease.- Jianzhi Sengchan

The mind that opens up to a new idea never returns to its original size.- Albert Einstein

When people ask me if I'm liberal or conservative, I say, 'Yeah.' I'm both of them. To be a liberal means to be open-minded and generous and open to new ideas. And to be conservative means to hold onto things that are important, things that shouldn't be cast aside. -Adam Hamilton

It does take great maturity to understand that the opinion we are arguing for is merely the hypothesis we favor, necessarily imperfect, probably transitory, which only very limited minds can declare to be a certainty or a truth. -Milan Kundera

The thing is, it’s very dangerous to have a fixed idea. A person with a fixed idea will always find some way of convincing himself in the end that he is right. -Atle Selberg

Please share with us a quality you believe to be a necessary aspect of becoming one’s highest and best version. This is not rhetorical, please share!
