Siemens has officially opened a new facility in Saudi Arabia dedicated to the production of electrical equipment

Siemens and Arabia Electric Limited Equipment Company, its partner in Saudi Arabia, have opened their new 6,000 sq m medium-voltage electric panel manufacturing plant in Modon Oasis Jeddah.


The factory manufactures electrical equipment, including substation automation systems, communication and protection medium voltage panels, and other essential products for the utility, oil and gas, infrastructure, and petrochemical industries. Approximately 120 individuals are employed at the facility. The factory will play a significant role in boosting the local economy and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and technology, providing training and job opportunities for Saudi nationals.

In an interview with Arab News, the minister of industry emphasized that the establishment of factories by major international companies in the Kingdom showcases the country's ability to accommodate a variety of industries. Additionally, he highlighted that Lucid automobiles will soon feature the "Saudi Made" branding. "Saudi Arabia is dedicated to its strategy, providing a conducive environment for industrial investments, enabling industry investors to enhance their capabilities within the Kingdom.

This initiative aims not only to cater to the local market but also to expand exports regionally and globally," Alkhorayef stated. He mentioned that the industrial clusters in Saudi Arabia can be categorized into two types: industrial zones and Modon Oases, such as the one in Jeddah. Furthermore, he mentioned working closely with industries that require clustering for integration, like the car manufacturing cluster.

Alkhorayef also discussed plans to establish a food manufacturing cluster in Jazan and a mineral industry cluster in Ras Al-Khair in the Eastern Province of the country. Regarding the inauguration of the Siemens factory in Jeddah, Alkhorayef congratulated the German company for setting up the facility. "Siemens' decision to establish a factory in Saudi Arabia demonstrates the country's potential as a key hub for manufacturing companies," he noted, emphasizing the significant growth experienced in the electricity sector.

The minister reiterated the commitment to attracting investments, utilizing capabilities developed within the Kingdom, and even exporting locally produced goods. Alkhorayef concluded the interview by affirming Saudi Arabia's dedication to nationalization.

He emphasized that the nation's industrial strategy leverages its inherent strengths, such as strong domestic demand and abundant natural resources like oil, gas, petrochemicals, and minerals.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabia's strategic geographical location further enhances its attractiveness to both local and international companies.

Ahmad Hawsawi, CEO of Siemens in Saudi Arabia, expressed pride in contributing to the Kingdom's journey towards an innovative and sustainable future. "Our new factory in Jeddah is not just a manufacturing facility; it is an innovation hub designed to meet the Kingdom's growing energy solution needs. By implementing Siemens' cutting-edge technologies, Saudi Arabia is poised to experience unparalleled enhancements in the efficiency and resilience of its energy systems," Hawsawi stated. Eltje Aderhold, consul general of Germany, expressed her "great pride" in the collaboration between Saudi Arabia and her country. "This project signifies the positive development of cooperation between Germany and Saudi Arabia, and it demonstrates that we are shaping our future together," she remarked, highlighting the increasing collaboration between German companies and their Saudi counterparts.

Aderhold further emphasized Germany's keen interest in working with its Saudi partners towards Vision 2030, investing in and transitioning to clean energy, protecting the climate, and developing new technologies.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Khalil Salamah, Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs, as well as executives from the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones, the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority, and the National Industrial Development Center. Other notable attendees included Saudi Electricity Co., Aramco, SABIC, Ma'aden, EA Juffali & Brothers, and various prominent government and private sector companies.

Khaled Juffali, the chairman of Ebrahim A. Juffali and Brothers Group, as well as a board member of Arabia Electric Equipment Co. and Siemens in Saudi Arabia, expressed his excitement about the inauguration of our new establishment in Jeddah. This signifies our unwavering faith in the economic growth plan of Saudi Arabia.
