Signs of the Times
I recently attended an actual in-the-flesh network meeting. Yes – you heard me correctly. Not via Zoom. In a room. In-person. In 2022.
Business cards, it transpires, are so last century. What do you do these days? Why share the LinkedIn app QR code of course. Allowing you to connect instantly with the click of a button.
It’s one of the most notable positive differences these modern times have to offer if you ask me. A definite benefit not having to lug a box of cards around with you. Nowadays you can connect there and then.
LinkedIn is the ideal forum for keeping in touch with the people you network with. Hark back to times of old: attending tons of face-to-face events, shovelling stacks of cards into your inside pocket or bag. Then, once you have those cards, how often do you actually chase those people up?
Hardly ever, that’s how often. Whereas posting on LinkedIn warms up your new acquaintances: they get to know you, like you, and trust you, all through your content. Breaking down barriers. It’s quick, it’s easy, it’s far-reaching.
My Kinda Content
Personal posts are ideal if you are open. Those on the receiving end feel they can instantly trust you, reading your posts are a great way to get an instant insight into your life – to get to know the real you.
Adding Value Helping your audience will also help you form bonds. Sharing your top three tips, for example, be they in a video, slider post, or some text with an image.
Entertaining posts are a nice bit of fun, to mix it up a bit. Once you know your audience, jokes can work a treat when they resonate with your network. And boy do we all need some lighthearted posts right now.

On weekends posts tend to be more relaxed, so sharing what you are watching on Netflix, for example, is a nice way of connecting and attracting comments from your followers.
Polls inspire engagement. Doing some market research, looking at stats and share them as a post could also be of interest to your network.
Stories are as important now as they’ve always been - we all do love a good story. It’s human nature. Often, they serve to help people too. The more open you are, the more it inspires others to be the same
News, what is trending right now, sports events, and music events all make for perfect posts.
Most importantly always remember to comment on others’ posts, help build those relationships, and take time to engage and give value.
Do make a point of remembering those people whom you met face to face. Follow up with a message, a conversation. It’s so handy keeping in touch with those connections as you just never know whom they might know!
To wrap up: I’ve been training on LinkedIn for a while now and I’ve created a new group on Facebook, a chance to share my pearls of wisdom. 2yLoved the newsletter Bettina Siddiqi as I'm a big fan of QRs. I like to customize mine and created a smart phone screen cover image. Not only does it make connecting easy, it was responsible for getting a lost phone returned. Please let me know if you'd like a custom QR in you branding colors, my treat. #KeepRockingLinkedIn! Kevin
