The Significance of Video Messaging in Recruitment

The Significance of Video Messaging in Recruitment

In today's digital age, the recruitment industry is constantly evolving to adapt to new technologies and trends. One innovation that is gaining momentum and importance is video messaging and on-demand video interviewing, explained below. I'd like to share a few pointers outlining why this approach in the recruitment industry is becoming so important, and why it will inevitably save time, and ££.

Video messaging: proactive messages using video, replacing (or including) the standard text. Also used throughout the recruitment process; following up with a candidate, a hiring manager, sharing feedback, and/or outlining the next steps.

On-demand video interviewing: as part of a candidates application, they will answer a set of questions using video. Dependent on the provider *, the candidate: 👉completes questions set by the recruiter 👉the candidate submits their answers 👉the recruiter assesses and either progress to the next stage or declines 👉 the recruiter shortlists the selected to the hiring managers for review and plans the in-person interview.

💚Enhanced Candidate Assessment:

Video messaging allows recruiters to portray a proactive message in an authentic and personable manner. In addition, on-demand video interviewing allows recruiters to gain a greater understanding of a candidate beyond a CV before committing to an in-person interview. By incorporating video interviews and/or video introductions, recruiters can assess candidates' communication skills, body language, and overall presentation. This additional layer of evaluation enables recruiters to make better informed decisions and identify the best value add candidates in the market.

💚Improved Efficiency and Cost Savings:

On-demnd video interviewing streamlines the recruitment process by eliminating the need for initial in-person interviews. For recruiters, dependent on your recruitment process and imlpementation, this should and will save time and very importantly, resources. This efficiency translates into cost savings for both recruiters and candidates, as it reduces travel expenses and allows for a wider pool of applicants to be considered.

💚The Candidate Experience:

Video messaging offers candidates to e-meet the person behind the message before deciding, and even if they are not interested now, they'll remember that video! What would you prefer, hearding from the recruiter showcasing the business, the opportunity, and showing some personality, or an InMail with text only? On-demand video interviewing offers the candidate flexibility to showcase their skills and personality in a more engaging manner. I love this aspect; it provides an opportunity for candidates to express themselves beyond the limitations of a traditional CV. This authentic approach enhances the candidate experience, making them feel valued and increasing their engagement within the recruitment process.

💚Geographical Reach:

Video messaging enables recruiters to connect with candidates from different geographical locations. Me personally, on-demand video interviewing has allowed me to engage with candidates, globally, at any time; I simply let the on-demand video platform do the work while I sleep! By leveraging both video messaging and on-demand, recruiters can overcome geographical barriers and tap into diverse talent pools, expanding their reach, double their speed of work with the use of tech, and increasing the chances of sourcing the right candidates. Time zones will no longer be a barrier!

💚Employer Branding:

Video messaging can be used as a powerful tool for showcasing a company's culture and values. By incorporating videos that highlight the workplace environment, employee testimonials, or company events, recruiters can effectively communicate their employer brand to potential candidates. This helps in attracting top talent who align with the company's values and vision. Our's being PACE (People, Accountability, Collaboration, Excellence).

💚My Conclusion:

Video messaging and on-demand video interviewing has become an indispensable tool in the recruitment industry. Its ability to enhance candidate assessment, improve efficiency, provide a better candidate experience (including hiring manager experience), expand geographical reach (globally), and support effective employer branding makes it valuable for all types of recruiters. As technology continues to advance, video messaging will play an even more significant role in shaping the future of recruitment in the UK.

I totally agree with you on the relevance of video messaging in the recruitment industry. What are your thoughts on the time that is needed to record videos for each and every candidate if you want to truly individualize your approach?
