Silver Snipers - The 70-year-old eSports team that competes in CS:GO
There is no age limit in eSports, and anyone can become a legend – even retirees. Meet Silver Snipers, a peculiar team with veteran players, in this note!
There is no age for passions, and it is very clear that gaming is the passion of multitudes. People of all ages play eSports on a daily basis all over the world, and this includes older adults. These Swedish "grandfathers" have their own team, Silver Snipers , and will be participating in the DreamHack Winter where a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament will be played .
According to what the Vandal Sports website reports , Silver Snipers is a team with a unique makeup where the average age is over 71 years . This may initially lend itself to thinking that they are not a “serious” team, and that they are more of a curiosity than a real contender, but the truth is that the draw has several professional players under its belt. Coaching these veterans is Potti, a legendary Swedish player who should be a household name for any Counter-Strike fan .
Other members of the team include Monica "Teen Slayer" Idenfors , a 62-year-old woman who amazes with her reflexes and skill with the mouse and keyboard. The oldest on the team is 81-year-old Bertil “Berra-Bang” Englud , who is also the team's MVP for his spectacular kill-to-kill ratio. Rounding out the peculiar painting are Abbe “BirDie” , Oivind “Windy” and Wanja “Knitting Knight” .
A curious detail is how such a team arises. Those responsible are partially Intel and Lenovo , who sponsor the team in order to demonstrate that eSports are truly inclusive and have a place for everyone. In this way, it is demonstrated that high competition is not a matter for male adolescents, but for anyone who is passionate and has reflexes and ability to accompany it.
