The Simple System for Solopreneurs That Will Boost Your Revenue and Save Time

An effective way of taking away your audience from the mercy of social media algorithms

Social media can be unpredictable for your income. Organic reach on all platforms is constantly declining. As of July 2023, the average engagement rate of an organic Facebook post fell from 2.58% to just 1.52%.

I do not bother with FB anymore after I lost half (yes, about 2 K) of my closed group members. It takes years to build a community, and due to the greediness of the owner, you can lose it overnight like I did.

The algorithm changes are nothing but forcing entrepreneurs to pay money for advertising. While you can incorporate advertising into your marketing strategy (you can lose money, though, if you are a rookie), I prefer organic audience building and monetization.

I will share a simple method to boost your revenue and save time and frustration regardless of your niche.

Likes do not equal cash

You waste your time if you do not use social media for business.

Social media are designed to trigger your dopamine level, and it is highly addictive. Our brain does not differentiate reality from the virtual experience.

Most people will do anything for a temporary dopamine surge. That is why so many people are addicted to social media. They are glued to their mobiles all the time.

Creating strategic content on social media takes time. But regular posting is just about 20 % of the success. More important is how you engage with others.

Most methods preached by social media gurus do not apply to small or medium-sized accounts. You have to network and message others regularly to see any results.

I am not trying to discourage you from using social media. It is an essential part of your marketing strategy, but it is the reality and just the top of your sales funnel.

Take away your audience from the mercy of algorithms

You need to grow an email list and write a newsletter to get control over communicating with your audience.

Many solopreneurs are terrified by the idea of writing a regular newsletter and growing an email list. I get it, but look at the numbers and facts:

  • Return on investment (ROI). For every $1 spent, email makes an impressive $36.
  • Engagement. The average open rate of email is over 20%, but only about 0.5% of people interacting with you on social media do so organically.
  • Conversion power. 59% of people who have bought something say that marketing emails affect their choices. Those are real effects, not just vanity numbers.
  • Longevity. Social media posts disappear into the abyss, and emails stay in people's inboxes, ready to be found again.

Automate the client conversion process

Getting your new lead (the potential client's address) is excellent, but it is far more important than what will happen next.

If you send a generic thank you and welcome email, nothing will happen, and you will leave money on the table. Instead, craft an educational email sequence.

It is a sequence of 5–7 emails (depending on your offer) that educates your new audience about your business, answers important questions, and builds trust before you do anything else.

This personalized welcome email series is like having your own educator and sales team working for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

People don’t want to be sold to. They want to be educated. People who read that informative copy see you as an expert and are more likely to buy from you.

This is an invaluable asset of every solopreneur's business.

When people join your email list, they are genuinely excited to learn how you can help them. According to Klaviyo'study, welcome emails had a staggering average open rate of 54.34 %.

I have different lead magnets and educational welcome email sequences. Depending on the sequence, my open rates vary from 62 % to 82 %.

Conclusion

Social media has minimal organic reach. Constant algorithm changes are nothing else but a way to limit your business growth and make you pay money for advertising.

Here is a simple strategy to take away your audience from social media and control your business growth:

  • Use social media to promote yourself shamelessly. Nobody buys from the silent expert.
  • Create content that drives traffic to landing pages with lead magnets (freebies in exchange for an email address).
  • Craft actionable CTAs to engage your audience and grow your email list.
  • Write an educational email sequence that educates your newly acquired audience and converts them into raving fans and loyal clients.
  • Deliver exciting newsletters that you would like to read on your solopreneurship journey.

Although the thought of writing a newsletter may be terrifying, it is the most effective and reliable way of growing your business.

Social media is too unpredictable, and your profile can be restricted, suspended, or blocked.

You will suck at first with your newsletter, but it is better to make mistakes in front of 15 people than 500 hundred.

Good luck with your exciting journey.
