Simplicity is the main condition of moral beauty.
Tolstoy said it, not me, but it can be argued!
In our age, simplicity is a very rare thing. This society requires us to always want more, to never be satisfied, to dedicate our lives to always looking for something new and better.
At some point we should stop, reflect and figure out when to settle and enjoy what we have, starting with the simplest things.
Reality is complex and full of contradictions, and those who are able to appreciate the beauty of simplicity are also able to live better.
Simplicity is a virtue to be rediscovered. Modern life, a society of entertainment and consumption, marked by complexity and abundance, perhaps makes us feel more acutely the need to return to the essentials, to reduce complexity, to simplify life itself: in the organization of our existence, in interpersonal relationships, in our way of thinking and considering reality.
Simplicity is the virtue of the person who is devoid of artifice and affectation, who does not pretend and is not concerned about his image or reputation, who is not moved by calculation, is transparent and natural. But to live it you have to go back to the essentials, simplifying many aspects of your life.
It's not easy to be simple. More than a virtue, we consider it a yielding, a surrender. Especially in the era of competition, of merit, of skills, of overcoming the other, otherwise you are nobody.
Simplicity should not be confused with naivety, gullibility, childishness. What prevents it from degenerating into similar attitudes is the fact that it is always combined with the virtue of prudence: this ensures that man's gaze does not allow itself to be deceived by the yes or no of the will, but makes the yes or no depend of the will from the truth, from how things really are, because the realization of the good presupposes the knowledge and objective evaluation of concrete reality.
Simplicity has enormous value, even aesthetically and ethically. It is a quality, the characteristic of people of value. Simple people are elegant by nature. They don't show up with useless frills and affectations. And they are not slaves to narcissism. And being simple strengthens personality, not weakens it. It is the refusal of the futile display of one's own value. The simple person is not interested in cheating to look better than he is, but neither is he interested in competing with others to prove that he is as good as or better than them.

I believe simplicity is creative by definition. It frees us from unnecessary frills, and takes us naturally towards "ourselves", what we really are and not what we appear to be.
A simple person has a lifestyle of his own, and above all a personality of his own that he can also express on an aesthetic level. Simplicity, like sobriety, is elegance.
Balzac said: «A man of good taste must be simple in his needs». Note: simple. Not indifferent, without ambitions, without dreams, without expectations (including economic ones, of course). No, just simple: the same way, when success comes, and when the wind turns against. Simple which means strong, solid, aware of one's qualities but also of one's limits.
In a very complex society, simplicity invites us to embrace an ideal of renewed lightness and transparency.
Sure, finding simplicity amidst the cacophony of today's times may seem like a challenge, yet the road to simplicity begins right within us. Going simple is a choice. And, precisely because of a spiritual matrix, simplicity expresses a practical wisdom with a profoundly ethical component that can help us provide answers to the problems of the contemporary world as well.
Some confuse simplicity with naivety. Instead, If the innocent and spontaneous simplicity of childhood can evoke naivete, this does not apply to mature simplicity, earned with experience. Because, unlike ingenuity, simplicity is a value. Let's reflect: In life one should sharpen one's ability to discern; as active virtue, simplicity can prove to be a decisive tool in the face of the difficult choices that punctuate our lives.
Appreciating the beauty of simplicity means fully experiencing the here and now. Often our mind looks to the past or imagines the future. When this happens, you are not in the present moment and remain in a state of unconscious distraction. By fully experiencing simplicity and appreciating the little things, we stay focused on the present moment.
In summary, we should adopt and frequent simplicity as the compass of one's life.
