Simplicity

Simplicity

Yesterday I spoke to someone I had not seen for a while. And he said: You look happy!

To which I answered: I AM.

And there is a reason for that….

You might have noticed that it's been a while since I wrote last.

The story

Have you missed me?

Probably not - as we all have tons of things going on in our lives.

I do too. But there is more to the story….here's how it started.

Weeks ago - just after I wrote to you last time - I went on a trip with my daughter.

And 5 dogs.

Her 3 and my 2.

I drove to Devon in the UK where she lives, and from there we made our way up to Scotland. All in a little 3-series BMW Coupe - with 3 doors.

An adventure that directed my mind and attention away from any sort of business and regular life. With its ups and downs (not a piece of cake to travel with 5 dogs ;-)) - that is some material for a different story.

The "surprise"

After 4000 km and 12 days, I came home only to find some surprises in my inbox.

Not the good type I might add.

Some old loose ends from the past came to hit me in the face. Stuff I had not paid attention to. Stuff that will cost me quite some money now to get in order.

This was a rude awakening.

 Mainly due to my negligence.

After the first shock and many phone calls to see what could be done, I decided to take full responsibility and get on with the process that is inevitable to create "order" again.

Naturally, that kept me rather busy in the last weeks.

It also gave me a chance to think about how I will run my business and life in future.

And I realized that I crave far more SIMPLICITY.

Through my past, my moves and everything else in my life and business had become this complicated model where I pulled many strings at the same time and always had to pay attention so that they wouldn't get confused.

You might be familiar with this - the older we get, the more complex our life tends to get…be it through patchwork families, working abroad, owning property, having kids…you name it - and juggling all of it takes quite some energy.

Not anymore.

The shift

I took the last weeks to tidy up.

Not just in regards to the construction I had built which I'm on the way to dissolving.

I also tidied other things up:

  • I filed ALL paperwork lying around
  • I cleared my old files out and threw everything out I could (legally)
  • I got rid of things which no longer serve me (still ongoing)
  • I started tidying up those infamous rooms and corners in the house which tend to serve as "I-will-put-stuff-there-until-I-know-what-to-do-with-it"…the latter of which hardly ever happens
  • I consolidated my various bank accounts, paid every single penny of any outstanding amounts - including my fullmortgage -  and finally gave some people direct debit mandates to make my financial management easier (might be common sense for most….I never trusted the authorities to only take what I owed ;-))
  • I have cancelled newsletters or stopped reading all the information that I believe I require to become "better" or to increase my income.

With every step of the way, I feel lighter. And more in control again.

Life has been becoming simpler,  better, and more enjoyable (THAT is the main factor) and continues to go in that direction.

Do you feel the pressure and exhaustion?

Why do I tell you that?

Because you might feel the pressure too.

Of too many things happening at the same time and "having to be done" in your life/your job (the job simply being a part of life).

Maybe you're also craving more simplicity.

Less stress.

Idle moments.

Being REAL instead of continuously running for the next big goal or achievement and putting more and more into your calendar (including going to the gym, eating healthily and all the other stuff that we might expect from ourselves).

Maybe you're tired of squeezing too much in or everything out of life.

Because you fear that you might miss out. Or not achieve or BE enough if you don't.

Exhausting!

To make that clear: there is nothing wrong with achievement. Nor with goals.

There is EVERYTHING wrong though with being permanently stressed, overworked and putting more time and effort into managing your life and chasing the next thing instead of feeling ALIVE, JOYFUL and…at peace.

Hence I simplified.

And now focus much more on what is REALLY important.

An invitation

For now - I'd like to extend an invitation.

If any of the above sounds familiar to you and you feel that "oh, yes, that is me"…or "I'm so tired of running through my life and having to be strong, smart and confident all the time"…or "I crave peace and feeling alive instead of lacking energy and Iike I only want to sleep" - PLEASE send me a short message, simply saying YES and let's start talking. Casually - without pressure.

I will let you know personally what I'm working on and you decide if you would like to be part of it.

What I can promise: it's going to help you on a foundational level, will stop the overthinking and create all those feelings that might have been amiss for a while.

Being at peace.

The bliss of inner balance.

Feeling energetic and alive.

Real self-confidence and trust in self.

Joy.

Can't wait to hear from you.
