Industry News

Luminary Cloud

Luminary Cloud , a CAE firm is a company established in 2019, has come out of stealth mode with an aim to transform the CAE industry.  They provide real-time engineering through a CAE software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, which includes AI technology in the form of an engineering design copilot and cloud-based workflows that facilitate international collaboration.

Luminary's platform aims to run these high-fidelity simulations faster than older companies by using the speed of GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) and cloud-based processing.

Ansys

Ansys (NASDAQ: ANSS) announced a strategic partnership with NVIDIA which is aimed at crafting next-level simulation solutions harnessing accelerated computing and generative AI. This partnership will harmonize cutting-edge technologies to drive progress in 6G innovations, enhancing Ansys solvers by utilizing the power of NVIDIA GPUs. Additionally, it will involve the seamless integration of NVIDIA AI capabilities into Ansys software suites, paving the way for the development of physics-based digital twins and tailored large language models (LLMs) utilizing NVIDIA AI foundry services.

ESI Group and FAW-Volkswagen (FAW-VW) TE

The two companies have strengthened their alliance by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to propel intelligent simulation technology in the automotive sector.

Through this partnership, the entities seek to enhance innovation and efficiency in intelligent simulation and establish a localized automotive industry material database. This initiative aims to encourage cooperation in advancing intelligent simulation technology across the automotive sector, contributing to a cleaner, safer, and more productive future.

As part of the MoU, a joint laboratory for material testing and intelligent simulation has been established, marking a significant stride in intelligent simulation, innovation, and automotive research.

Product Release Updates

Altair SimSolid

Altair announced the upcoming release of Altair SimSolid for electronics, bringing multi-physics scenario exploration for electronics, from chips, PCBs, and ICs to full system design. Altair SimSolid has developed conventional analysis to predict complex structural problems with speed while eliminating the complexity of lengthy hours of modeling. It aims to eliminate geometry simplification and meshing, the two most time-consuming and expertise-intensive tasks done in traditional finite element analysis. As a result, it is expected to deliver results faster compared to the traditional finite element solvers – and handle complex assemblies easily.

BETA CAE

BETA CAE Systems announced the release of SPDRM v1.9.3.

This new release is expected to add improvements and solutions to the users of the Simulation Process Data and Resources Management software.

Altair: Simulate at the Speed of Design 2024

Altair is hosting its annual virtual event on May 16, 2024. This event is ideal for SMB/SME companies considering use of CAE/FEA simulation tools for the first time. The event aims to share an overview of how the use of Altair products viz; Altair® Inspire™, Altair SimSolid® and Altair® SimLab® will help the companies to reduce risks and costs associated with it and increase efficiency.

 Topics covered

  • User presentations by customers of Altair and Altair Channel Partners about transition from CAD embedded Simulation to adopting CAE, FEA simulation tools in their product development process
  • Generative Design, Concept Development, Topology Optimization or Design for Manufacture in Altair® Inspire™.
  • Rapid Structural Analysis in Altair SimSolid® for parts or large assemblies.
  • Drop Test, Thermal, CFD, Fatigue or combined Multiphysics Analysis in Altair® SimLab®
  • Manufacturing Feasibility, Process Simulation with Inspire Cast, Inspire Form, Inspire Mold, Inspire Extrude or Inspire Print 3D.

Sessions will feature live audio translation into English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean.

COMSOL

Fluid-Structure Interaction Simulation in COMSOL, Inc. Multiphysics®: In Fluid-Structure Interaction, the interrelationship between fluid dynamics and structural mechanics is fundamental. The behavior of the structure impacts the fluid, and vice versa, creating a dynamic coupling that must be accurately predicted and analysed. Failure to consider FSI effects can lead to complete product failure.

This webinar will allow the participants to explore various capabilities available in COMSOL Multiphysics® for modeling fluid-structure interaction (FSI). Examples of one-way and two-way coupling for steady-state and transient FSI simulations will be discussed, and faculties, such as handling of moving meshes, coupling FSI with physics such as heat transfer, two-phase flow, etc will also be introduced.

Technology Focus

The Power of GPU’s

GPU computing, also known as General-Purpose computing on Graphics Processing Units (GPGPU), taps into the parallel processing power of GPU cards to execute computation-intensive tasks that were traditionally managed by CPUs. This method entails employing a GPU as a co-processor to boost CPUs in performing general-purpose scientific and engineering computations.

Irrespective of their size and status, companies are recognizing the effectiveness of GPUs and seizing the opportunity to utilize their immense parallel processing capabilities. This includes newcomers like Luminary Cloud, founded in 2019, and established industry leaders such as Ansys, Siemens, Cadence etc.

The blog delves into the essence of GPU computing, explores various solvers that leverage this technology, compares GPU with traditional CPU computing, and concludes with insights into the future of computational sciences powered by GPUs.
