Six young people begin exciting apprenticeships with Trivallis

Six enthusiastic young people have started apprenticeships with Trivallis, a local housing association committed to supporting the community. These apprenticeships offer a valuable opportunity for the young recruits to learn new skills, get qualifications and gain practical experience in the housing industry.

Sam Williams (20), Curtis Morgan (18), Samuel Roper (21), Max Flanagan (17), Chad Griffiths (20), and Kacey Davies (18) and will be working in various departments across the organisation, including repairs, development, compliance and tenant involvement. This hands-on experience will allow them to develop the knowledge and expertise needed to build successful careers in the housing sector.

Trivallis is strongly committed to nurturing young talent and providing opportunities for its tenants and their families. Most of the apprentices live in a Trivallis home. The apprenticeship programme is part of the association's broader efforts to invest in the community and help young people achieve their full potential.

One of the new apprentices is Sam Williams from Wattstown. "This apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity for me to learn and grow in a supportive environment. I studied plumbing at college but without a level 3 apprenticeship I’ve only been able to work as a general labourer. Now I’m working as an Apprentice Plumber and Gas Engineer with Trivallis, I can really progress my career.”

Chad Griffiths is from Penywaun. “I studied plumbing at college but couldn’t finish the course to get fully qualified. I worked in rail engineering, but an accident last year meant I’ve been out of work for a few months. The Trivallis apprenticeship means I can get back into plumbing, which was always my ambition, and work whilst finishing my qualifications.”

Max Flanagan from Porthcawl is doing a surveying apprenticeship. "I studied Biology, Chemistry, and Business Studies for my AS-levels, but I decided I was ready to get a job and experience the world of work. My dad works for Trivallis, and I was excited to join the company and make a positive impact in the community."

The apprenticeship programme is designed to provide a mix of on-the-job training at Trivallis and formal education with Coleg y Cymoedd , ensuring that the apprentices receive a well-rounded experience. Throughout their apprenticeship, they will be mentored by experienced Trivallis staff members who will guide them every step of the way.

Nigel Williams , Head of Learning and Development at Trivallis, said: “I’m proud to welcome these young people to the team and look forward to seeing them thrive in their new roles. They are all eager to begin their journey and make a difference in the lives of the people they will serve.

“By investing in apprenticeships, Trivallis is helping to build a stronger, more skilled workforce for the future.”
