SMI Conference 2024: Naval Support Integrated Global Network (NSIGN) confirmed as exhibitors
NSIGN will join SMI at the upcoming SMI Conference 2024 both onstage in the auditorium and as exhibitors. Rebecca Green will deliver a presentation on NSIGN (Naval Support Integrated Global Network) - Government Procurement opportunities and adoption of civil maritime best practice. Members of the NSIGN team will be present throughout both days as exhibitors, to begin the next phase of market engagement for the Ships Engineering Project.
Futures Afloat Industry Engagement Event held at Trinity House
On Tuesday, SMI in partnership with Trinity House delivered an Industry Engagement event for the Futures Afloat project.
The event was well attended by both shipyards and supply chain, where members of the Futures Afloat project team outlined the plans for the replacement of THV Patricia and THV Galatea.
During the event, Damien Oliver, Major Projects Director highlighted that 'the three key goals of our engagement strategy will be transparency, collaboration and clarity' with RAdm Iain Lower, CEO of Trinity House stating that Futures Afloat 'sets out the Trinity House vision and entirely new programme to replace our ships'.
The morning's presentations also featured insights from 2 new cadets to enable participants to draw connections between this new generation of seafarers and the ambitions of the programme.
Thank you to all who joined us, we hope it enabled participants to gain a fuller picture of the project and the overall procurement process.
SMM Hamburg 2024: Join the UK Maritime Industries Showcase Reception on 5th September 2024
SMI, working in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade is hosting the UK Maritime Industries Showcase at this year's SMM Hamburg 2024 located at Hall B1.OG Stand 332.
Join us at our official networking reception on Tuesday 5th September from 5pm-6.30pm for refreshments and the opportunity to connect with fellow maritime changemakers. SMI will be joined at the UK Maritime Industries Showcase area by ACM Bearings, AMI Marine, Eminox, Maritime UK Solent, Protea, Syscada and Wake Media.

Centre for Future Clean Mobility launches Maritime Clean Fuel Forecasting Survey
A note to all stakeholders in maritime decarbonisation, the Centre for Future Clean Mobility is undertaking a survey on alternative fuels for maritime decarbonisation. This is part of a collaboration with the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) on a project funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) to explore regulations for decarbonised vessels in the maritime sector.
