SND Arts & Letters, Media All-Star Edition

Hello my lovelies! As we slide into the Labor Day weekend I'm reminded of those What I Did On My Summer Vacation show and tells we used to do in school, coming back for a new semester... So while it hasn't exactly been a vacation, in that spirit here's a bunch of pretty cool stuff that happened since last I emailed in June. The terrific artist Grace Roselli made a portrait of me for a project on lady power in the art world, I appeared on both the A.G. Geiger and the And I Thought... podcasts, won those L.A. Press Club awards, did a whole bunch of talking in galleries and salons, helped jury entries to the Beverly Hills Art Show (happening October 19) and of course, brought out the 2019 Best of L.A. Arts issue at the Weekly. So maybe not a vacation, but we've still been having a blast!

As you doubtless heard when I plastered it all over Instagram in June, my L.A. Weekly cover story on Viggo Mortensen from last November won a first place (aka shiny trophy) in personality profiles at the L.A. Press Club Awards, where my review of Todd Gray's show at Meliksetian Briggs for Art and Cake took second place (aka gold-embossed certificate suitable for framing) in the reviews category. That was rad.

The And I Thought... ladies were kind enough to invite me on their video interview program to talk about what the L.A. art world is up to these days, and also the allure of silver hair. We laughed pretty hard but we managed a lively interview. And I gave a video walkthrough of the Art Share exhibition, Tactile. Enjoy!
