Social Distancing with Technology

Social Distancing with Technology

Engineers at Unizen Technologies have developed three new wearable devices to help monitor, detect and break chain of COVID-19, this includes a wristband & Tag that vibrates if someone gets closer to proximity of 1.5 meters distance. And an additional wristband that tracks and monitors the Quarantine along with geo-fencing.

Social Distancing Wristband Tag uses BLE UWB technology and is a complete Enterprise solution on Social Distancing monitoring for Enterprises and Industries to maintain Social Distance at work place during COVID 19 Pandemic. The Smart Wearable will help employees to maintain social distancing at work. It notifies wearers when another person moves within 1.5 meters and alert them the need to maintain social distance.

Social Distancing Solutions

Unizen began working on Quarantine Tracker Wristband and Social Distancing solution since April 2020, the Quarantine Tracker gadgets also includes Temperature Sensor, Geo-fencing, Tamper Proof wristband, Buzzer, LED, Vibration and real-time Notifications to Mobile and Web App. Wristband that continuously monitors user temperature to detect possible COVID-19 infection. The devices were invented to help collect critical health data that can be used to alert wearers of potential exposure or infection.

Another device, called the Reflex 2.0 smart band for Social Distancing works on BLE 5.1, monitors wearers’ temperature to detect possible infection before the individual even knows they are sick. Early indicators of a COVID-19 infection are often missed by sporadic temperature checks, but by using a device that continuously monitors temperature can make it easier to spot infection. The wristband works by actively monitoring activity, ambient temperature and body temperature to alert the wearer though their smartphone of potential infection so they can get tested and avoid spreading the disease.

Another Device in form of Tag, called Reflex Tag, uses UWB (Ultra Wideband) to alert the wearer if they are coming too close to another individual. A light vibration with LED reminds the wearer to maintain social distancing. The wristband also generates a log of contact tracing who the user has come into contact with and at what time of day, duration spent by breaching social distancing which can assist in contact tracing to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Social Distancing Wristband uses BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy):The system is based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) proximity detection technology, which uses the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) and Transmission Power ( TxPower ) of user's android handsets for the estimation of real time social distancing status and to alert them. It notifies users through real time popup notifications on the screen of the handsets and by vibration and notification sound when another app user gets closer to a range of 1.5 meters with four levels of granularity.

Social Distancing Tag uses UWB (( Ultra Wideband): Which is a wireless technology recognized for its use in high accuracy localization applications, is an excellent choice for social distancing. Running on a rechargeable or coin cell battery, a social distancing device based on UWB can provide distance measurements with unmatched accuracy of +/ 10 cm. UWB enabled social distancing device combines Bluetooth low energy (BLE) scanning, to identify the presence of other devices, with UWB for precise measurements. The BLE function continually scans (or advertises) for other devices. When the BLE function detects the presence of a similar device within a given distance (six meters, for example), it wakes up the UWB function to begin ranging.

All of these Variants are successfully running in Pharma, FMCG and Food Tech Industries.

Devices like these, sometimes called “internet of things” devices, have a significant roll to play in protecting people during the pandemic, and will be critically important to protect employees at Enterprise level who are returning to IT & Industries, as well as for health care workers.

“[The pandemic] is a major problem. It has upended out lives. “But at the same time it’s an opportunity.”

We’ve designed and built a system that will keep our Industries business running and help regenerate economy, improve productivity and protect people’s livelihoods.
