Social Dusk by Brian Francis Heffron

Social Dusk by Brian Francis Heffron

A long red-ray signals the dusk,

A yellow star in misty rust.

Stay near me now, where I can see.

The moment's come to make our plea:

It's impossible now, to find our way.

To go left or right, we cannot say.

So here we are in a no-star-zone,

Littered with carcass, littered with bone.

Under sun or moon our path diverges,

Dissipates, thins, but then converges.

But the sun above is just too bright,

So we lose our way in oncoming night.

Everyone could feel the peril growing,

But we turned our cheeks and kept on going,

Trudging, plodding, forcing our way.

To leave a place we could not stay.

The bravest among us surprised the rest.

The bravest among us behaved the best.

And your Karma matters again now, too.

So the things you say need to be true.

Cause what we’ve seen, we can't believe.

Justice gone with no reprieve.

See, this is how it's going to be:

It's gonna get much worse, just wait and see.
