Is social media right for your business?
No business in the world can survive without paying customers, it's the fundamental survival element of a business. If you over look this, then you can start to countdown the survival of that businesses, and the closure will happen very fast.
I always get asked by people who are keen to start a business, "what is the key factor that will insure my business to flourish and become a success". So what they are really saying is how do I make sure my business doesn't fail. It is a very serious question, may answer has and will always be "get as many paying customers as quickly as possible". You need cashflow and a stable flow of it so that you can generate confidence in your own business.
But, how do I get customers, where is the best resource to talk to potential customers and let them know that you and your product/service exist, and that you can deliver the solution to a problem they need solved. The answer will always be to go where they are all hanging out, if you are wanting to catch fish then you go to the ocean waters, however if you want to catch a specific fish like salmon, then you need to do a little research and find out where you will more likely catch salmon. Finding the right type of customer(s) will require some research on your part and a place where the largest amount of the right type of customers can be found. So, let's look at social media, businesses can't ignore social media as part of its marketing mix anymore.
In Australia (as an example) you can say we are avid users of social media, in-fact most countries have avid social media users, some countries more than others. More than 79% of the Australian population are active on social media, thats almost 20 million people are engaged and communicating on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter and Pinterest. Almost 96% of all internet users aged between 16 and 64 have accessed a social media platform or messaging service.
In 2020, almost 45 billion dollars (AUD) was spent on purchasing goods and services advertised from the internet and social media. Facebook and YouTube commanded the largest amount of audience(s) therefore had the biggest advertising spend. Since the smart phone hit the market, 98% of Australians access social media from a mobile device.
Social Media can provide you access to a large pool of active potential customers, you can really dig deep and select the perfect type of customer(s) with a very attractive low cost per customer enquiry (lead). As soon as I discovered how powerful this was, my business grew impressively, and continues to grow as I start to market our services on a global scale.
Combined with other great advertising platforms, social media is very powerful and can be the positive cashflow difference for your business. You can do it on your own, however I would recommend using a proven successful digital marketing agency who can increase your brand awareness and put you in-front of millions of potential customers.
I have had tremendous success from social media, however I couldn't have done it without the support and guidance of people who have provided me with extensive advise and support so that I can maximise the opportunities from online and social media platforms.
