Solar Panel Recycling

Solar Panel Recycling

When you are trying to recycle old solar panels, what you’re really recycling is metal, steel, silicone and most of all, solar cells. What exactly is a solar cell and what does it do? Solar cells absorb light, separate charge carriers and deliver carriers to outside circuits, more popularly knows as “generate usable electricity”. Think of solar cells a legos, one by itself is useless, but when stacked on top of each other solar cells create “photovoltaic modules”, which are more widely-known as solar panels.

Recycling every piece of an end of life solar panel should be any generator or recycler’s primary focus, but we have to place emphasis on not letting solar cells degrade in the environment. Solar panels are made primarily of glass, aluminum, plastic, and semiconductor materials that can be recycled at the end of a solar panel’s useful life.? Recycling these materials gives them a second life rather than ending up in landfills.? Similarly, important materials that can be recovered, such as silver, copper, and other metals, require a knowledgeable recycler with the appropriate processes and equipment.? Some materials, by law, also require a properly permitted recycler to ensure that safe procedures and processes are employed.

Solar PV recycling (photovoltaic) is an up and coming waste stream generated?in both consumer?and commercial fields of use. While demand may not be terribly high at the moment, there are many early-era solar power systems or solar PV systems that will soon be reaching their end of life cycle. SUNY GROUP stands ready to deliver industry leading end of life management solutions for commercial and consumer solar energy systems.

The rest of the components in a solar panel consist of good quality glass, aluminium frames, polymers, silicon, copper and silver paste (used for the printed conductors on each cell), all of which (up to 95%), can be successfully recycled.

Solar panels are made primarily of glass, aluminum, metal, plastic, and semiconductor materials that can be recycled at the end of a solar panel's useful life.Recycling these materials gives them a second life rather than ending up in landfills.

Photovoltaic panels contain high components such as glass, aluminum, adhesive sealant, silicon, and silver, as well as rare metals such as steel and gallium, which have very good resource utilization value. SUNYGROUP's equipment recycles waste photovoltaic panels through physical means such as automatic dismantling, crushing, and sorting, so as to achieve the purpose of recycling useful components.

Recycling Rate From Scrap Solar Panels

1.Aluminum frame is product of frame removing machine, the purity is 100%.

2.Glass granule and glass powder two products from glass remover, the purity is 99%.

3.The metal powder is copper powder and silver powder, The purity is 99%.

4.Silicon powder and a small amount of glass powder, the purity is 99%(Silicon about 80%).

5.Powder plastic all from crushing & sorting part, the purity is 99%.Watch Solar Panel Recycling Line Working Process video
