Somatophobia: Are YOU or your PATIENTS afraid to FEEL?
Do YOU or your patients suffer from SOMATOPHOBIA?
At first glance, you may say "no, I don't fear my body or fear feeling."
I'll invite you to keep reading...
"So·ma·to: relating to the body, distinct from the mind or soul
Pho·bi·a: an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something
Somatophobia. The real pandemic. The ultimate fear of the body and the potent feeling presence, Shakti (or life force), that accompanies embodiment. The most popular synonym for the word ‘embodied’ is ALIVE. If you’re not fully embodied, are you fully alive?" - Excerpt from 'Somatophobia: A Guided Sacred Cannabis Journey To Your HIGHER Self'
I'll be the first to admit - I suffered from somatophobia AND all of my patients suffered from somatophobia.
Somatophobia was underlying my BURNOUT.
I was burnt out that I couldn't guide my patients INTO THEIR BODY to access the ROOT cause of their sciatica or neck pain.
I was burnt out that I couldn't seem to HEAL the same "not enough wound" that was rearing its head in my life, in my relationship, and in my practice. Just when I thought I had "healed" the not enoughness from a mind-based modality (i.e. subconscious reprogramming), another trigger that poked this not enoughness would show up reminding me that I haven't healed it.
"What am I missing?" I used to ponder.
Well, I was missing "somatophobia" as the ROOT CAUSE.
I couldn't guide my patients into their body because they were afraid to FEEL their body.
Because well... once you feel all of the above, what do you do with it?
No-one taught us how to FEEL our body, let alone what to do with all these intense feelings and emotions or how to HEAL them.
"From the time you were born, you were programmed to abandon your inner world of feelings, sensations, and emotions, because that’s what you witnessed around you. You didn’t see effective coping mechanisms in place to handle stressful situations or traumatic experiences. You didn’t feel safe in your environment to express the wide range of feelings and emotions that your developing mind and body were experiencing, nor did you feel encouraged to share those feelings and emotions because your parents were too caught up in their own world of stress and busy-ness. So, you held them in. Unexpressed. And fully suppressed." - Excerpt from 'Somatophobia'
The majority of people are deathly afraid to venture out of their head and below their neck... yet as a Chiropractor, you know that the majority of innate intelligence exists below the head.
Allow me to ask you the following questions:
So if no-one taught you how to FEEL your body, you can be sure that no-one taught your patients how to FEEL their body... which leads to FEAR OF THE BODY.
Which brings me to my next questions...

I can share from my own experience in my former practices and today in my sacred somatic medicine ceremonies, somatophobia paired with the fight-flight-freeze state that bodies are stuck in due to chronic STRESS has them breathing 15-19x / minute from their chest - basically hyperventilating because their diaphragm is immobile (i.e. frozen).
Somatophobia has us living disembodied, disconnected, dis-eased, in delusion, distracted, dissociated, and divorced... divine union, what's that? Is that a thing?
And everything that you're looking for... everything that your patients are looking for... is found IN THE BODY.
Hence the term 'embodiment'.
The book I spent my entire life looking for externally, was awaiting me INSIDE my body.
I had to conquer my own somatophobia in order to unearth the knowledge I shared in my "Somatophobia".
Here's a replay of last week's LIVE as I shared an excerpt from my book about somatophobia and the fear of FEELING:
