Sometimes peace is better than being right

Sometimes peace is better than being right

We all know that happiness is a niche emotion. one’s own happiness will impart on another’s. how can one be happy knowing this? inner peace is the ability to listen to your conscience and pursue what completes it’s subconscious desire. inner peace can result in the emotions of happiness/self satisfaction, but in the various forms of happiness, with our competitive nature, inner peace simply offers less sacrifice of another’s for yours. happiness has many forms, though.

I believe peace is more important for me ( may be because I am not so adventurous to risk my peace for happiness ). I feel in today's world where everyone is too busy and unkind to care for their fellow beings in distress, anyone who can be peaceful is lucky. Because at the end of the day going to sleep with a peaceful mind is the most sacred sleep. Also being in peace comes from our own actions, which always bears a consequence with it. I feel sometimes when we do little sacrifices for our loved ones we will be happy, at the same time peaceful at heart.

And the form of happiness is different for different people. I think happiness is a long term phenomenon which if tried to acquire instantly won't last long. Also I feel a peaceful mind can definitely be happy . Always try not to destroy others peace while crazily running behind your happiness. And in todays world we hear lot of such stories where the less fortunate ones are harassed for the benefits of the powerful class. I only have one doubt. Will they be able to sleep with their conscious clear??!

And you might wonder, “why in a hierarchy based system of society, would I concern myself with how i impact others?” philosophically speaking, we have free will. for justice, morality, ethics, and dignity to make sense there has to be a bases for the fiber of society. one’s happiness imparting another’s isn’t necessarily plausible without hierarchy. the laws of free-will state that free-will can neither be given nor taken, for then it is not free-will. one should always attempt to preserve free-will but never assume it can be. such is the value of understanding, knowledge, and wisdom.

Also we live in a hierarchal society. the world thrives off of the exchange of free will, happiness, peace…etc. are people happy? according to Voltaire "happiness is purely momentous. you can give a society the peace it needs without any perceived concern and without the fluctuations of rising and falling, people lose their happiness". is one’s vision of their own happiness justification to perceive another’s and thus judge it?

Do you have a choice? Depending, once again, on definitions, both are wonderful options. My hunch is peace ( aka peace of mind) . But I am not sure its exactly a choice. There is the issue of what we can will, and what we do not directly will. I sit down to meditate, that takes will, but only in the earliest volition/ stage. The transformation ( barely perceptible ) that hopefully takes place in consciousness is beyond my capacity to will. I say hopefully, because true actual meditation is a very advanced stage according to Patanjali.; those like myself who meditate, are not actually meditating but they are in preliminary stages, that hopefully lead to actual meditation.

I do not consciously raise/ will, my own level of consciousness . or self awareness. Though, as I type this, I think, it is an interesting challenge.. and maybe possible! I had one healing of a personal and negative tendency and a healing of my heart happened spontaneously. I did not will it… it involved the state of the human heart… Not the pumper of tons of blood… the human loving quality of the heart. My Guru teaches there are five stages of the human heart, from dark, all the way to Pure. or Clean. Mine was in dark stage on this issue.. and for all I know still is. But I am grateful for what I received.

My heart was, shall I say, improved on a specific issue. If you had asked me, ‘by will power, can you eradicate this dark heart issue’, I would have said , “no way”. It thankfully occurred outside of my willing entirely. I may have prayed about it.. over the decades… but I did not see a direct willing followed by the needed purification. So I am applying this anecdote to peace and happiness, in terms of simple way of your own choosing.

Now we come to what do we mean by peace and by happiness ? In “The Science of Religion”, my guru Paramahansa Yogananda goes into happiness, in detail. I will attempt to merge both peace and happiness under one Johnny Gee homespun definition- "There is lower happiness and higher happiness". I am guessing, but I imagine higher peace and higher happiness are a part of one another … as is Divine Joy, Divine Bliss Divine Love. These are advanced stages of self realization which Yoga philosophy addresses . Cheers!
