Sonder Spotlight: Rafael Vasconcelos

Today we’re shining the Sonder Spotlight on Rafael Vasconcelos Silva . Based in Sydney, Raf is instrumental in powering the Sonder's analytics and advanced analytics initiatives.

Here Raf shares his journey so far at Sonder, including his role in the successful data platform migration, and how his dedication to wellbeing fuels his professional success.

Data Engineering Lead I am responsible for our data platform. 

My role enables initiatives related to analytics, and advanced analytics. My day-to-day involves a lot of engagement with other teams, from our operations to our product teams, identifying and implementing data-driven initiatives.

I joined Sonder back in February 2023 because I was excited about the product.

I had the feeling that I could contribute straight away. More than that, I was excited about the possibility of supporting our members to stay at their best, and hence, doing better for our customers.

The warm welcome I received from the team is one of my favourite early memories at Sonder.

The three words I’d use to describe our culture are welcoming, respectful, and goals-driven.

Another highlight was when we finished the migration of our Data Platform in October last year. 

Completing that allowed us to create reports that weren’t previously possible and unblock so many things. I know that over time we’ll see the impact everywhere and I’m really excited about what is to come.

When it comes to my own health and wellbeing, I like to stay active. 

I do Jiu-Jitsu twice a week and work out at the gym. It is important because it helps me to organise my thinking, the things I have to do, and also be part of a community.
