The Sound of Climate Influence

The Sound of Climate Influence

In my latest audio post, I consider where my own "joy" has been in recent months as I review my posts and shares. If someone like me - known for my #JoyAsAnActOfResistance and "name and fame" and "love up" approach to building leadership influence can lose her "uumph", you know it's bad. What about you?

Listen to my 6 minute post on Substack and let me know if you've noticed the same and how you are going to now commit to rediscovering it. Later is too late. We need you fully visible and vocal in all of your public expressions because the whole idea is we are shifting a SOCIAL NORM of corporate, political and cultural leadership in our world.

It is a lot more fun to find your own joy and meaning, and then keep that in the SOUND of you in your climate work - join me in that pursuit!

A bit from the transcript:

We're going to just be part of a collective kind of noise if we don't pull out our individual emotions and kind of energy behind everything we do. So this does impact climate influence. And this is something that I talk with about the leaders that I advise on social media, speaking, you know, how to get speaking gigs and podcasts, guest gigs, et cetera, is figuring out how to maintain consistency in being yourself and not getting weighed down in corporate speak or really scripted stuff. So it's sort of a version of that. So go back, take a look at recent posts, read them out loud on a voicemail, start to get a sense for if you've been battered down by the situation and figure out how you can bring back your joy or your emotion or your enthusiasm for the thing that you do. Whatever your sector, we need you to be super psyched And we need you to be naming and faming others in your sector.

Hi Andrea, what you say resonates with me. I have been feeling the same in the last months and I believe we need to talk more about how we feel as we talk about what we know, what we work on, etc. We can't continue "forgetting" ourselves on the way. Thank you for your voice note.

In just the last week I've taken in so much - ideas from those on the front lines of climate action, and those that have been in the work for decades. If I'm remembering right, Paul Hawken, one of those I tuned into, said only 1% of people on the planet are working on or integrating work on the climate into their lives. Either way, inspiring more voices to be part of journey, is a great opportunity.
