Apple is paving the way for XR’s new killer application: Walk-in memories - Portals that transport you into your past and let you relive memories in an emotional, totally immersive way.
Imagine transporting your customers inside your brand story, letting them relive iconic moments or explore a future product launch. The new technology to realize that is called spatial video, and it has a lot of unused potential for marketing and sales purposes.
But what exactly are spatial videos? Unlike static 3D or 360° video, spatial video lets you move around in a scene to reveal different perspectives, just like you would experience a physical environment in real life.
So if you lean, duck or step sideways, your view shifts accordingly. These simulated 6 degrees of freedom create an immersive experience. This technology will be used for personal videos (created with smartphones) to add a new level of immersion, as well as in the context of high-quality brand-communication and marketing.
Real-time AI tools create a depth map of the stereoscopic 3D video, allowing you to move within the video.
