UK-China Joint Statement

Last century saw the special relationship between the UK and US, which saw the US rise to become the dominant global economic power.

Many say that this is the Chinese century, as its economic resurgence and sheer number of people drive it past the US.  China still has a long way to go, especially in financial services, and evolving its economy from manufacturing for export, infrastructure and construction led to a more balanced model.  The UK and China's joint statement as part of the Chinese President's UK state visit, and its willingness to be the first major western country to sign up to joining the AIIB in the face of strong US opposition, shows how much has changed since the last century.
