Spending Veterans Day with Stellantis Veterans Group Co-Chair Jordan Williams
Jordan Williams has been with Stellantis for five years, currently working in Supply Chain Finance. Outside of his day-to-day work, Jordan is passionate about supporting the veteran community and serves as co-chair of the Stellantis Veterans Group (SVG), a business resource group (BRG) focused on improving the lives of veterans both at the company and beyond. This Veterans Day, we caught up with Jordan to hear more about his work in both areas.
How long have you been serving as the president of the Stellantis Veterans Group BRG and what has that experience been like for you?
I have had the privilege of serving as the co-chair of the SVG for the past two years, and I couldn’t be more proud of the incredible work we’re doing within the group. It’s been an honor to help lead such a dedicated team that is so passionate about making a real difference in the lives of veterans, both within Stellantis and in the broader community. Supporting and uplifting our veteran community is something I hold close to my heart, and being able to contribute to that effort is truly fulfilling.
What inspired you to join Stellantis, and what has your journey within the company been so far?
I joined Stellantis because I’ve always had a deep passion for cars and a genuine interest in the cutting-edge technology that drives the automotive industry forward. From a young age, I’ve been fascinated by how cars work and how innovations in design and engineering can transform the driving experience. Stellantis, with its rich legacy and forward-thinking approach, was the perfect place to take my passion to the next level. My journey at Stellantis so far has been incredibly exciting and full of opportunities for growth. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of gaining exposure to several different departments, which has allowed me to broaden my understanding of the business.
Tell us a bit about your military background. Does everyone in the Stellantis Veterans Group BRG have a background in the armed forces?
I’m a veteran, having served six years in the Michigan Army National Guard as an All-Source Intelligence Analyst, including a deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom. My time in the service taught me a lot about leadership, but also the importance of listening and learning from others. I gained a deep appreciation for teamwork, especially in high-pressure situations where trust is key to success.
One of the great things about the SVG is that you don’t have to be to belong. While many of our members are veterans, we also have a strong network of allies who are deeply connected to the military community. Many of them have family members or close friends who have served, and their support is invaluable. The SVG is about fostering a sense of community and belonging, where everyone who shares a commitment to supporting veterans can contribute, regardless of their background.
Looking back on your time in the service, what is one key skill or lesson that you’ve carried over to your role here at Stellantis, and how has it helped you in your career?
There are couple of key attributes that really stick out from my time in the military. One would be perseverance, constantly being challenged to keep moving forward in difficult situations. This drive has helped me in my career by not shying away from a challenge and always looking for ways to improve. When you get outside of your comfort zone, that’s when you really grow as a person and a professional. The army also instilled in me a high level of integrity. The more choices you make based on integrity, the better your relationships will be with coworkers, friends, and family.
What is the primary goal of the Stellantis Veterans Group? Any specific initiatives that you’re most proud of?
The mission of the SVG is simple: to support the veteran community by inspiring a passion to serve. There are a lot of initiatives that we do that stand out, but if I had to pick one it would be our signature event, the 9/11 Remembrance Ruck March. This event brings it all together for me. We ask participants to bring backpacks filled with non-perishable food items, clothing items, and carry that backpack for 2.2 miles to symbolize the load carried by our veterans and first responders. Upon completion of The Ruck March, we donate all the items to transitional facilities for homeless veterans. It feels great to come together as a community and give back.
When you're not focused on work, what are some of your favorite ways to spend your time?
Spending time with my family is one of my greatest joys. Being a husband and father brings so much fulfillment and laughter into my life. I’m incredibly fortunate to have two amazing kids, Oliver, who is seven, and Aurora, who will be turning five at the end of this month. Watching them grow and experience the world is something I treasure every day.
My Jeep Wagoneer really comes handy when toting Oliver to his flag football games, Aurora to her dance recitals, or myself to a local golf course. Enjoying a round and spending time outdoors has always been a great way to unwind and take a break from the busyness of life.
What do you think is most important for us all to remember this Veterans Day?
Veterans Day is a day of reflection. I believe everyone does that in their own way. I think it is important to remember that veterans come from all walks of life and it's about recognizing their sacrifices and contributions.
For me, it’s a little bit different. I usually find myself thinking about the people I served with, the memories made, and the lessons learned. I use this day to check in with my battle buddies and honor all our veterans by giving back. For the past several years with help from our Jeep, Dodge, and Ram brands, the SVG has been able to participate in the Detroit Veterans Day parade.
At Stellantis, we’re proud to employ and support veterans across the United States. The company was even recently acknowledged as a 2024 Top Veteran-Friendly Employer and as having a Top Veteran-Friendly Supplier Diversity Program by U.S. Veterans Magazine.
This Veterans Day, we honor all those who have served in the armed forces and sincerely thank them for their service.
