"There is no spoon."

"THERE IS NO SPOON." Do you know this legendary sentence? It is from the movie called The Matrix, a science fiction movie, which mostly takes place in virtual reality, in the Matrix. Where the main protagonist Neo (played by Keanu Reeves) observes the child how he bends the spoon just by looking at it. Neo is astonished and impressed and he tries to bend the spoon himself. But his attempt does not exactly work like kid’s did. This little one then said: "Do not try to bend the spoon. This is impossible. Instead, only realize the truth ... ". "What truth?" asked Neo. And then the kid says: "There is no spoon." And the child continues: " Then you will see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is yourself. "

What the little one tries to convey is that a person cannot truly change the reality of his environment. That person can only change himself. Only when a person changes himself can, he can then change the reality, his surroundings.

And so, one day, not very long time ago, I confided to a fellow businessman that I cannot share my long posts on LinkedIn, because LinkedIn posts are limited by the very small number of allowed characters. Because of my deep frustration I added that I think they are a bit behind time. So he said this tongue-in-cheek and said that they are even behind the wooden spoon (invention). I added: "Do they even know what the wooden spoon is?" And he replied, "If they don’t, you will design on for them." His statement brought a real smile on my face. What a coincidence that something like that came to his mind, because I actually did design a wooden spoon.

It was even more amusing, that when I designed this spoon, I took the design which was already drawn on a block of wood, to a technician to cut out the actual spoon on his machine. After the technician examined my design, he said, "I cannot bend your spoon so much. It is too curvy for such a thin wooden spoon. "Although he did not recommend this design, we decided to cut off a rough version of the spoon, and I would polish the spoon by had until I would get it in the shape I have envisioned.

So, I bend it. The spoon I mean. And that's how the spoon you see was brought to life. Now, imagine that you are somewhere on the skyscraper, well was by the river, drinking ice coffee in the warm spring sunset and eating the ice-cream from the ice coffee with that spoon. Well, that's how I envisioned the reality, the reality enabled by this spoon.

What is your reality? What is your company like? Should we bend it a little? Or you just need a bit of polishing? That the reality that you imagined for your company will come to life. You can do this through BREND IDENTITY DESIGN. Write to katja@vresk.com and we’ll talk about your business reality.

PS: For now, it's not yet important, if you take a blue or red pill, since we deal with colors later in the design process. The same as in the movie, Neo is introduced to a process and “real” life in the matrix before he gets to a consummation of the blue and/or red pill.
