Spot On Insurance Welcomes Jennifer Morrison
When American agents ask our team at ILSA about getting licensed in Canada, they often assume that the insurance industry is virtually identical in both countries. But as Jennifer Morrison joins us to explain, the truth is that Canada is a unique marketplace with its own challenges and opportunities, where major differences exist even between provinces and territories.
Jennifer calls herself a P&C insurance geek who enjoys hanging out on the IT side to make sure that our industry has the tools it needs to do its thing. As the Director of Projects and Innovation for Nova Mutual Insurance Company, she uses agile leadership principles to guide the project design process. Prior to joining the Nova Mutual team, Jennifer served as an Innovation Lead at Gore Mutual Insurance. She also has extensive experience in business analysis and quality assurance.
Unlike many people who sort of “stumble into” our industry, Jennifer always wanted to work in insurance. (Her first job was as an underwriter with the same company where her uncle spent his career.) She soon transitioned to business analysis, a role that let her harness one of her strongest skills – the ability to facilitate effective communication between business and technical teams. For Jennifer, the roles she’s mastered – business analyst, agile leader, and design thinking facilitator – have value because they focus on meeting human needs. Whether it’s re-engineering data systems to embrace gender diversity, taking the needs of customers into account when designing payment options, or breaking down silos between insurance professionals, it all comes down to people.
